2000 Regular Season Champions
Attman's Deli
The 2000 Attman's Deli Softball team showed its most balanced attack in many
years with eight players batting .420 or better. Even with their lowest home run
total in years, Attman's scored more runs in 26 games than in past years.
Consistent pitching from Bruce Eisenberg with solid defensive play helped
Attman's lead the league to a 134 run differential with 283 runs for(10.8 per
game) and 149 runs given up(5.7 per game) Player highlights included Dave
Sandler in the leadoff spot garnishing honors with the most total hits, Don
Weinapple with the lead in doubles, Scott Moffet and Lee Eidelberg tied for most
triples, and Don Herrod leading in home runs. Lee Eidelberg led the team in
Slugging % of .815, as well as overall average .508. The team batting average of
.420 was only exceeded one time in the past 15 years , and that was 1994 when
the team batted .429 on their way to a 30-3 season. A true team effort from
everyone helped balance the Attman's performance in 2000.
Attman's Deli softball team (formerly Manny's Motas) has compiled a record of
377 wins and 84 losses since the 1986 season. They were regular season champions
in 1986, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 94, 96, 97, 99, and now 2000. They were
tournament champions in 1987, 91, 92, 94, 97 and 1998. The team still has 5
original members from 1980 when they were managed by Stan "the fan"
Charles.
