2002 Regular Season Champions

Attman's Deli

The Turtles virtually went wire to wire for the regular season title, ironically being helped in the final week of the season by the Gorgeous Watches, who beat Palmgard to allow Jilly's to gain the top spot. The Turtles were the only team to win 20 this season finishing 20-6. The Turtles had many players contributing to their success, but none greater than Ricky Farley, who caught everything in sight in left-center and led all hitters with a .543 pct. going 38-70 with a team leading 12 doubles. New right-fielder Mark Summerfield hit an incredible .526, with a team high 25 RBI's and also topping the team with 28 runs and 4 homers. Leadoff hitter Rob Ressin, who managed with Detour Dave, had a typical Robbie year, leading the team with 78 at-bats and 13 walks. Second-baseman Reggie Ellis had a fine year at the plate (.477) and anchoring the 2nd-base position every game with steady defense. Harry Schevker came back solid after recovering from off season shoulder surgery hitting .474. Detour Dave Sandler hit only .356, but played well in both left and right-center and went 4-1 pitching in Eisey's absence. Lee Eidelberg and Warren Scudder shared the 1st-base responsibilities going .463 and .423 respectively. Scott Moffet was a model of consistency batting .438 and playing a strong right-center. New additions Rob Gould and Jeff Michaelson became excellent at 3rd-base and Catcher and proved to be key acquisitions in the off-season.

Eisey, who seems like he has been pitching since the leagues inception, was the glue that kept the team together, with the retirement of Paul Bell. Bruce was masterful on the mound going 15-5...but his hitting in the last position was even more impressive going 23-43 with a .535 pct., easily his best showing ever.
