Kings vs Jilly's Turtles
Game 1
Turtles 8  Kings 6

RBI singles by Chuck Grant, Dave Roogow, and Alan Varhaftik were responsible in establishing the early lead. Turtles pitcher Bruce Eisenberg evened the game in the t-6th with a 1-out bases loaded single, while a double outfield error cleared the bases allowing Jeff Wolf and Eisenberg to score. Kings managed to get the tying runs in scoring position in the b-6th, but Eisenberg was able to get the final out himself on a pop-up to the pitcher. Marc Summerfield was the offensive star for the Turtles with a 3-for-3 performance including 3 runs scored and a stolen base.

Game 2

Game 1
Sky 24 NEK 8 (5 Innings)
Sky & Sky was hot out of the gates using two 2-run jacks from Brian Kowitz and Joel Wax to jump out in front by 6 in their half of the first. Another 2-run shot by Aric Spitulnik helped propel Sky & SKy to an early 9-0 lead. However, N.E.K. awoke in the b-2nd and batted around. They closed the gap to four runs taking advantage of errors, walks and singles. Sky & Sky answered with three in the t-3rd as Joel Wax doubled home two with the second of three consecutive doubles in the inning. N.E.K. pushed two across in
the b-3rd, but that would be the extent of their offense. Sky & Sky batted 12 guys in the t-4th to push the game out of reach adding 8 to their total.  The final score was 24-8 in 5 innings with Zach Scherr getting an offensive explosion to coast to his fourth victory and Bern ??? taking the loss. Game 2
Sky 17  NEK 4 (6 Innings)
Game 2 saw Sky & Sky pick up where they left off plating 5 in the b-1st. A 2-run shot by Brian Kowitz and a solo shot by Brian "Sky" Mekiliesky were the big hits in the inning. N.E.K. Entertainment took advantage of an error in the t-2nd to get one run back. Sky returned the favor as Scott Felton knocked in Steve Truitt with a SF. N.E.K. added solo runs in the 4th & 5th innings to close the gap to 6-3. Sky & Sky bats came to life in the b-5th as the first 5 batters reached base safely. Steve Truitt dribbled a single up the middle for 2 more RBI and a third run scored on the play via a stupid throw by the catcher. In the b-6th each of the first 6 batters reached
safely for Sky & Sky. Aric Spitulnik capped off the scoring and ended the game with a two run dinger to the fence. Larry Newman earned the victory and Bern ??? again absorbed the loss 17-4 in 6 innings. Hitting stars for Sky & Sky were Brian Kowitz 3-3,HR,2

Deer Park Middle School Field #3
Eastern Savings Bank vs Mount Washington Tavern
Game 1
ESB 16 MWT 1 (4 Innings)
Game 1 was quick and uneventful. ESB outplayed the Tavern with timely hitting and mistake free fielding. The tavern's bats decided not to get out of bed for the first game producing just 1run.

Ted Winner pitched a kill-shortened 4-inning 4-hitter, and Eastern Savings Bank displayed flawless defense and a balanced, relentless hitting attack, as ESB beat Mt. Washington Tavern 16-1 in 5 innings. Ted's control was impeccable, walking none and striking out one, while surrendering only 2 hits from the second inning on. ESB's hitting attack, featuring 7 different players with 2 hits,( including a monster HR to right by Glen Broder), plated 2 runs in the first, 7 in the second, 4 in the 3rd, and a clinching 3 runs in the nail-biting bottom of the 4th.

Game 2
ESB 18  MWT10
Game 2 was much more exciting, the Tavern put together two great rallies in the game only to be answered each time by ESB. The Tavern closed to within 2 runs after the fifth inning 12-10, but ESB rallied and sealed the victory with 3 runs in the 6th and 7th. ESB played a solid defense all day led by 3rd basemen Aaron Shifrin who was a solid vacuum all day and 3 Tavern runners were gunned down at the plate. Jon Goldman played a great shortstop for the Tavern knocking down everything that came his way and Jason Ott scored one of his runs from an outstretched head first slide at home. He curved around the catcher in the air and was safe at home.
Hitting Highlights for the Tavern:
Jon Lamb 3-5 12b 1run 1bb
Howard Goldberg 2-5 1bb 13b 1rbi 1run
Scott Landsman 2-4 12b 1run 3rbi
Jason Ott 4-6 2run 12b 3rbi

Game 2 gave the fans more of what they paid for today -- a more competitive display of major-league-brand softball. MWT actually held a short-lived 1-0 lead after the first inning, only to see ESB score 3 in the top of the second. MWT ko'd spot-starter Kory Rosenberg after walking the bases full in the bottom of the second, tying the score at 3-3 with a 2-run rally , only to see ESB take the lead for good with a 4-run top of the third. MWT eventually made it exciting, drawing to within 12-10 in the bottom of the 5th with a 5-run rally that featured several two-out, seeing eye base hits. However, ESB asserted itself with a pair of 3-run rallies in the 6th and seventh innings, sealing the final score of 18-10. Ted Winner got the victory after relieving in the second, and other than the teeny weeny 5-run rally on the 5th, allowed only two other single runs. Once again, ESB's balanced attack featured seven players wit 2 or 3 hits each, including the 2nd HR of the day by by Glen Broder, this time to left field. MWT consistently tested ESB's arms with overly agressive base running, only to see 3 runners gunned down at the plate, and one at third (first game). ESB again played consistent defense , including several nearly-clean catches of infield throws at first base by "Tzi-Tzi" Schmell, sporting a still-being-broken-in glove.

Pikesville Senior High School Field #5
Havana Club Cannons vs Kelly & Associates
Game 1
HC Cannons 13 K&A 7
The Havana Club Cannons continued their winning ways by sweeping a pair from Orbin Publishing on Fathers Day 2002. Game one Tom Paulshock was the winning pitcher in a seven inning 18-7 affair. Johnny Edelman, Steve Henneman and Evan Kreitzer all had three hits, while Jeff Robbins had four safeties. Johnny Edelman scored four times while Kreitzer and Robbins scored three
times each. But the man was Mr. Kreitzer. He clocked two long three run homeruns while knocking in seven. It was a six to four score in favor of the Cannons as the fourth inning started. From there the fathers, Paulshock and G Edelman set the table for a bat around seven run eruption.

Game 2
HC Cannons 10 K&A 1
Game two found Mark Yokel going the full seven innings and yielding only a single unearned run. The Havana Club team cruised to a 10-1 victory. Neal Charkatz hit a homerun to knot the game at 1-1 in the second. Jeff Robbins and Brad Rosenberg knocked in runs in the third to make it 3-1. In the fifth, Steve Henneman, Jim Petersen, Neal Charkatz and Joe Mondel all knocked in runs to make it 8-1, enroute to the final tally. The Cannons were glad to welcome back Danny Kassel to the line-up, and defensively they showed championship form.
