Kings vs Sky & Sky Inc
Game 1
Kings 9  Sky & Sky 3
Chuck Grant (game 2-3,1 R,1 RBI,2B,3B) turned in another solid performance pitching and on offense as the Kings took the opener 9-3. Sky went into the lead in t-1st. Aric Spitulnik singled with 1 out and came home on Brian Sky's (game 2-3,1 RBI) 2 out RBI single to CF. In Kings b-2nd, Grant started inning with a triple and came home on Alan Varhaftik's (game 2-3, 2 R,3 RBI,2B,HR) 2-RBI HR. Shilo Merwitz (game 2-2,3 R,1 RBI,2B,3B,W) followed Varhaftik with a triple and Mike Herr (game 3-3,1 R,2 RBI,2B,3B) doubled home Merwitz. Herr eventually scored the 4th run of the inning on a Josh Frederick fielder's choice. Sky's Scott Felton (game 1-2,1 R,1 RBI,HR,W) cleared the RF fence with a line drive HR with 2 outs and no one on in the t-3rd. Kings extended their lead with 4 more runs in b-3rd. Key hits were consecutive RBI extra base hits by Grant(2B), Varhaftik(2B), Merwitz(2B), and Herr(3B). Sky added another solo run in t-4th. Andy Parker (game 2-3,1 R,2B,3B) tripled with 1 out and scored on a Larry Newman RBI grounder, with Newman reaching on an error. Kings closed out the scoring with Marc Goldstein's (game 2-3,1 RBI) RBI single in b-6th.

Game 2
Sky & Sky 8  Kings 7  (8 Innings)
In a back-and-forth battle, Sky came out from behind with 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to win the nightcap 8-7. Sky loaded the bases with 1 out, but scored just 1 run on an infield error to lead 1-0 after 1 inning. In Kings t-2nd, Shilo Merwitz led off the inning with a single, Scott Katzen hit a 1 out single, and Kings went ahead 3-1 when Dave Roogow homered. 3 straight singles to start b-3rd by Scott Felton, Brian Sky, and Alan Smith pulled Sky to within 3-2, but Sky left the bases loaded for the 2nd time in the first 3 innings (and 8 LOB after 3 innings). Kings extended their lead in t-4th. Alan Varhaftik reached base on an infield error and Shilo Merwitz (game 2-3,1 R,2 RBI,HR) launched a 2-RBI HR over the head of Sky LF Andy Parker. Kings allowed Sky back into game in the b-6th. With the Kings ahead 5-2, Sky's Mike Rottenberg began inning with a routine flyball to LCF. Miscommunication on the part of the Kings outfielders let the routine fly fall for a double. Steve Truitt (game 3-5) and Aric Spitulnik (RBI) followed this with singles.1 out later, Felton drew a walk to load the bases. Brian Sky bounced out into an RBI fielder's choice, keeping the Kings ahead 5-4, now with 2 outs. Alan Smith brought home Felton and Sky with a bases clearing 2B, that just eluded the glove of Kings RF Marc Goldstein. Smith's hit gave Sky 6-5 lead into the 7th inning. A 1 out solo HR by Kings 3B Scott Katzen (game 2-3,2 R,1 RBI,HR) knotted score 6-6. Sky was unable to score in the b-7th. In t-8th, Jeff Goldstein doubled to lead off the inning and scored on Jan Katzen's (game 3-4, 1 RBI) RBI single. Sky's Aric Spitulnik (game 2-4,3 R,1 RBI,2B,W) doubled down the leftfield line to start b-8th and moved to 3B on a flyout by Andy Parker. Scott Felton (game 2-3,2 R,1 RBI,3B,2 W) tripled to RF, scoring Spitulnik with the tying run. Brian Sky and Alan Smith (game 2-4,3 RBI,2B,W) were intentionally walked to load the bases and set up a force play at the plate against batter Larry Newman, but Newman (game 2-5,GWRBI) spoiled the strategy with an RBI single down the 3B line.

Pikesville Middle School Field #3
Havana Club Cannons vs Turtles
Game 1
HC Cannons 14  Turtles 2  (5 Innings)
The Havana Club Cannons handed the Turtles their initial loss for the 2002 regular season in grand style with a five inning 14-2 clubbing. Rob Isennock knocked in the first two runs with a bases loaded single in the second inning. With the score at 5-2 the Cannons added seven in the fourth. Home runs by Evan Kreitzer, Johnny Edelman and Jeff Kurland paced the onslaught.

Game 2
Turtles 7  HC Cannons 0
The second game ended with the listed forfeit score of 7-0, and this seemed ironic as the Cannons basically failed to show-up. The esteemed Bruce Eisenberg hurled a two hitter, and only walked two, enroute to a win. The Cannons made six errors and mishandled two run down plays between third and home. Paulshock got the loss. Yokel was the first game winner.

Pikesville Senior High Field #5
Eastern Savings Bank vs N.E.K. Entertainment
Game 1
Eastern Savings Bank 19  N.E.K. Entertainment 10
After shutting down the offense in the 1st, ESB came in with an early 2 run lead and mounted on that lead in the 2nd with a big 7 run inning. Started off by Kory Rosenberg, the team batted around in the inning capped by yet another homerun by Ben Schimmell. David Finkelstein pitched very well in his 1st win of the season. In both the 5th and 6th innings, Eastern scored 4 runs to put the game to far out or reach.

Game 2
Eastern Savings Bank 13  N.E.K. Entertainment 10
Teddy Winner Had another 4 strikeouts in his second win of the season. ESB started of right where they left off game 1 jumping out to a quick 2 run lead after the 1st inning. Then led by a 3 run shot by Shmuel Luxenburg jumped out to a quick 6 -0 lead after 2. It wasn't until the sixth inning after having the lead cut to 2 did ESB wake up again and score 5 more. In the top of the 7th a long sac fly gave ESB all the cushion they would need. And up by 3 in the bottom of the 7th Ted Winner was near flawless to put the win in the books.

Hitting Starts on the day for ESB were Ted Winner 6-7 , Aaron Shifrin 5-8 , Shmuel Luxenburg 6-8 , Russ Zapacosta 5-6.
