Northwest Corridor vs Havana Club Cannons
Game 1
Cannons 15 NWC 3 (5 Innings)
The Havana Club Cannons sent 16 batters to the plate in the opening
inning today, en-route to a 15-3 (5 inn) first game win. Mark Yokel improved his
pitching record to 2-0 as the Cannons jumped to a 12-0 lead. Dan Kassel hit a
grand slam in the first while Chuck Easter homered and singled, Mike Ginsberg
doubled and tripled, and Michael Dubansky singled and doubled. The rest of the
game resulted in a 3-3 battle. Howard Goldberg brushed off the horror of a first
inning to allow 3 runs on just 5 hits the rest of the game. Chuck Easter (3-3)
hit another homerun in the third, his fifth this season. Yokel shut down the
N.W.C bats with ease never allowing them to start a rally.
Game 2
Cannons 25 NWC 5 (5 Innings)
Game two found no relief for the Mt. Washington team as the Cannons won
25-5behind the solid pitching of Tom Paulshock. The Cannons repeated their first
game recipe with fourteen in the top of the first inning. This time eighteen men
went to the plate as Chuck Easter singled and doubled, Michael Dubansky blasted
two long homeruns, Brian Forthofer walked and homered, Evan Kreitzer singled and
doubled, and Mike Stellar walked and doubled. Meanwhile, Jeff Kurland went five
for five with two walks on the day, Joe Mondel had three hits and scored four
times and Neal Charkatz knocked in four.Tom Paulshock walked nobody in the five
inning game.
The Cannons continued where they left off of
in game 1 disposing of the N.W.C. rather quickly. Mike Stellar led the way for
the Cannons going 4-4 and scored each time. The N.W.C.'s only victory was
knowing that they had a great amount of fun playing, while the Cannons were all
business and probably forgot that they won twice. NEK your next, Bring it On
Suckas!!!!

Kings vs Sky & Sky Inc.
Game 1
Sky 14 Kings 8
The game was delayed 10 minutes at the start as the Sky team had only 9
players without a pitcher. Scheduled starter Zach Scherr overslept, so it was
left to acting manger Brian Sky to take the hill. Sky the pitcher, pitched 2/3
of an inning, allowing Zach Scherr to enter the game in the t-1st with the bases
loaded and 2 outs. Scherr allowed 2 straight walks before recording the final
out of the inning. Sky the team then exploded for 6 runs in b-1st. Aric
Spitulnik led off the inning with a towering HR to leftfield, while Andy Bloom,
Alan Smith, and Chris all had RBI singles. Brian Sky singled home a run in b-2nd
and Sky led 7-2 after 3 innings. Kings rallied for 4 runs in t-4th, keyed by a
Josh Frederick 2-RBI single, but Sky rallied for 3 more runs in b-4th and the
Kings never got any closer. Lane Gordon relieved Scherr in the t-5th, allowing
just 2 runs in the final 3 innings, picking up the 1st save of the softball
season.
Game 2
Sky 8 Kings 7
Game 2 was a come from behind win for Sky, with 3 unearned runs coming
with 2 outs in the t-7th. Sky again scored big in the opening inning, this time
4 runs. The key hit in the t-1st was a 2 out 3-run HR by Andy Bloom. Kings
matched the Sky total in the bottom half of the inning. Kings scored all 4 runs
after 2 were out on consecutive hits by Alan Varhaftik, Jan Katzen (RBI 2B),
Mike Herr (2 RBI), Richard Wong, and Josh Frederick (RBI). Scott Felton's
opposite field single in the t-3rd gave Sky 4-3 lead, but Kings again tied the
score with a 2 out rally in b-3rd. Jan Katzen doubled and Mike Herr blooped a
single to centerfield. Kings finally took the lead 7-5 in b-5th on an RBI single
by Chuck Grant, but squashed an opportunity for a huge rally when a no out, 1st
and 3rd base opportunity resulted in a groundout doubleplay, scoring the 7th
run, but clearing the bases. Kings took the 7-5 lead into the t-7th, but 3
errors in the inning were the downfall to the Kings. Lane Gordon reached base to
open the inning on an infield error and moved to secondbase on Aric Spitulnik's
single. Grant was then able to retire Steve Truitt and Jim Needleman, with the
Sky runners advancing to 2nd and 3rd base with 2 outs. Scott Felton then hit a
grounder to first base that was booted, allowing Gordon to score and Spitulnik
moved over to 3B. Brian Sky hit a clean single to RF scoring Spitulnik with the
tie run, but the cut-off throw from the outfield alluded the Kings coverage at
secondbase, with Felton coming all the way around from 1B to score the 8th run.
The Kings had another chance in the bottom half of the 7th. Dan Frignito tripled
with 1 out, but Gordon was able to retire Chuck Grant and Alan Varhaftik on
infield popups.

the end of the day ESB swept both games. In game 1,ESB behind the strong
pitching of David Finkelstein , beat NEK 14-3. While Finkelstein only gave up 6

home run. That was all the runs ESB would need to take the opener. Hitting stars
in game 1 were Ben Guttman,Zoeller,Ted Winner, and Eric Roskes.
Game 2
ESB 9 NEK 5
In game 2 NEK held the game close for 4 innings because of excellent pitching by

Palmgard vs Quizno's
Game 1
Quizno's 14 Palmgard 13
Quiznos served immediate notice that they intend on defending their 2002
League Playoff Championship by scoring 3 quick runs in the bottom of the 1st, 5
more in the bottom of the 2nd, three more in the bottom of the 3rd, and one more
in the bottom of the 4th. Palmgard's initial meager response to the Quiznos hit
parade, apart from some awful fielding sandwiched between "monster" shots by the
Quiznos "10", came in the top of the 2nd with a two-out double by former
Georgeous Watches outfielder Glen Ackman, followed by a monster triple by Gabe
Silber. With the score 12 - 1 after 4 innings, and Quiznos threatening to make
short shrift of Palmgard and send everyone home early, Palmgard mounted a
charge, scoring twice in the top of the 5th on consecutive doubles by Silber and
Mark Benjamin, followed by consecutive singles by Dave Kopel and Marty Ellis. In
the bottom of the 5th, however, Quiznos struck back with 2 runs of its own. In
the process, Quiznos pitcher Jeff Harris sent a liner off Palmgard hurler Marty
Ellis' pitching thumb, left shoulder and face. Unable to grip the ball, Ellis
nevertheless managed to shut Quiznos out the rest of the way. Trailing 14 - 3
after the 5th,Palmgard mounted a stirring comeback, scoring 4 in the top of the
6th on consecutive Jim Silvestri double, walk to Ackman, monster 3-run home run
by Silber, and a monster solo home run by Benjamin. Now trailing 14 -7, Palmgard
really heated up in the top of the 7th, scoring 6 times. Grailin Archie led off
with a single and, following a popout, Bob Hansen doubled, Jim Davis was walked
intentionally, Jim Silvestri hit a long Sacrifice Fly plating Archie and Hansen,
Ackman tripled, Silber tripled, and Mark Benjamin hit another home run.
Unfortunately the rally fell a run shy when Kopel flew out to end the game. Jeff
Harris was the winning pitcher and Marty Ellis was the hard luck loser,
physically as well.
Game 2
Quizno's 32 Palmgard 20
Sparked by their remarkable rally in Game 1, Palmgard, after holding
Quiznos at bay in the top half of the 1st, scored 4 times in the bottom half of
that inning on singles by Archie and Scott Bloom, a 3-run home run by Jim Davis,
and a solo shot by Silvestri. Quiznos answered with a pair off gutsy Palmgard
hurler Mike Johnson, who himself was nursing a broken toe. Back came Palmgard
with 5 more in the bottom of the 2nd on Archie's triple, a single by Bloom, a
double by Hansen, and another 3-run home run by Davis. Quiznos showed its mettle
trailing 9 - 2 by scoring 7 times in the top of the 3rd to knot the score and
the epic "Battle of the Titans" was on. Palmgard responded with 2 runs in the
bottom of the 3rd and, after holding Quiznos in check, 3 more in the bottom of
the 4th, the damage wreaked by 2-out clutch 3rd inning hits from Archie (double)
and Hansen (triple), and a 4th inning Ackman single, Silber double, and an
unexpected monster triple from substitute Keith Davis. With a 14 - 9 lead,
Quiznos again demonstrated why restricted flight balls mean nothing this year,
given the permitted double wall composite metal bats, as they scored 5 times in
the top of the 5th to knot the score. Palmgard promptly answered in the bottom
of the 5th with a run of its own the old fashioned way on a walk to Silvestri, a
single by Ackman, and an rbi single by Silber, making it 15 - 14. Pounding
unmercifully on Hurler Johnson, Quiznos scored 7 times in the top of the 6th to
wrest the lead from Palmgard, 21 - 15. Back came Palmgard, scoring 5 times in
the bottom of the 6th on a single by Archie, double by Bloom, a Jim Davis walk,
a 3-run triple by Silvestri, and a two-run home run by Ackman. With the score 21
- 20 in favor of Quiznos, the top of the 7th was an inning that would not end,
Quiznos scoring 11 times to quiet any fight that might be left in Palmgard. Jeff
Harris was the winning pitcher again, and Mike Johnson took the loss.
Quizno's had 7 different players hit H.R's. Craig Dlin led off the game with a
H.R, Jon Koman put 2 in the parking lot on Field 4 and Russ Seamster hit 3
H.R.'s over the trees. Quizno's had 8 different players with at least 3 hits in
the 2nd game.......In addition, everyone on the team scored in the second game.
The score was 21-20 going into the top of the 7th. Quizno's scored 11 runs in
the top of the 7th- which made the score 32-20. The game ended at 1:25PM.

Turtles vs Cougars
Game 1
Turtles 15 Cougars 3
Last year's regular season winners bounced back in week two with a sweep
of the expansion Cougars. In game one the Turtles jumped in early and often with
4 in the 1st and 5 in the 4th to take a 10-0 lead. Behind Eisey's first victory
of the season, the Turtles cruised to a 14-3 victory. Rob Ressin, in his
customary lead off position, went 3-3 with 3 runs scored and two RBI's. Other
hitting stars were Lee Eidelberg, going 3-4 with a run scored and Mark
Summerfield, who knocked in a run going 3-4 with 2 runs scored. Another
highlight in the game featured two Eisenberg's. Bruce on the mound and his son
Brett played a more than adequate right-center-field (1-3) in game one and (2-3)
in game two. Brett, who sports a full head of long brown locks must get that
from his mother's side of the family.
The Cougars were ready to take on last year's best team in regular season. Although, in game 1 it was tough hitting with a team batting average of .419. Lou Gitomer did his best with a supporting cast from Kory Rosenberg and Shawn T.. Matt Friedman had 2 RBI's and Darron Tabatznik brought it 1 RBI. Rich Schneider pitched a tough 1st game with the wet ball, but did quite well holding the turtles to only 14 runs in 7 innings.
Game 2
Turtles 18 Cougars 6 (5 Innings)
In game two, the Turtles erupted for 9 big runs in the 1st inning and
never looked back. Mark Summerfield had the big blast with a Grand Slam homer
over the left-fielders head. The Turtles scored 4 in the second and 3 in the
third-- final score 18-6 in 5 innings. Detour Dave had 2 doubles, two runs
scored and three rbi's in the two hole. Warren Scudder was a perfect 4-4 with 3
runs scored and three rbi's. Donnie Weinapple, playing his usual stellar
shortstop scored three runs going 1-2 with 2 walks off loser Darren Tabatznik.
Game 2 brought in a super power from Shawn T. This time,
going deep in the 1st and 4th innings. Having support RBI's from Mike Basoco and
Alex Newman. Darron Tabatznik pitched a tough 2nd game also. Kory Rosenberg,
Alex Newman and Shawn Van Oudenaren did not let most of the infield line drives
to pass by them.
Next up for the 2 and 2 Turtles is Mike Herr's Kings. Both teams at .500 on the
season.
