Field 2:
Game 1: Quizno's 21 (WP-Jeff Harris 1-2)  Sky & Sky Inc. 7 (LP-Larry Newman 1-2)

Both pitchers began very matter-of-factly scattering a few hits as the batting orders made their way to the plate. Then the Quizno's bats awoke, and their line-up barely sat on the bench in the 3rd. They sent 17 men to the plate, and 12 runs later the massacre was apparent. Sky & Sky answered meekly and after 5 innings it was an 11 run lead. Much to Quizno's chagrin, as well as Sky & Sky's misfortune, Quizno's would not mercifully shut the door. The teams traded a run here and there, until Quizno's took batting practice again in the t-7th pushing 5 more across.  Quizno's breezed to the easy, but not early, win 21-7. Harris over Newman. Everyone and their mother's were a hitting star for the Blue Wave

Tali Lemus showed up Sunday morning looking for a team. Little did he know that he would lead Quizno's Owings Mills to a 21-7 victory in game number 1. Tali (a la “the Natural”) lead the way going 4-5 with and RBI, scored 2 runs, and pulled a hamstring . In addition- he looked like Brooks Robinson at 3B turning a double play in the 5th inning to kill a Sky and Sky Rally. Scott was 5-6 with 4 RBI. Quiznos Owings Mills scored a whopping 12 Runs in the 3rd inning sending 16 Batters to the plate. Time of game: 2 Hours and 5 minutes.

Game 2: Sky & Sky Inc. 8 (WP-Larry Newman 2-2)  Quizno's 4 (LP-Jeff Harris 1-3)

Larry Newman shut down the bats of the Blue Wave in game 2 after giving up 15 runs in game 1. Newman scatted 7 hits over 7 innings. Larry Henderson and Jon Koman each had 2 hits to lead Quizno's Owings Mills in Game 2. Jeff Harris took the loss and is now 1-3 to start the season.

As Sky & Sky attempted to salvage a win in game 2, a juggling act saw half the players in different positions to accommodate schedules. However, this time the defense seemed to show up in this pitcher's duel. After 3 the score was 3-1 in favor of Sky & Sky. An error and some timely hitting allowed Sky & Sky's bottom half of the line-up to increase the lead to 6-1. Some shaky defense allowed saw Quizno's to close the gap to with in 2 in the t-6th. Then Sky & Sky's Scott Felton singled home two, including a hustling Andy Bloom from first base to double the lead. Newman closed the door in the 7th to gain his second victory of the season, as Jeff Harris took the loss.

Notes on Quizno's Owings Mills:
- Game 1: Team was 33-50 (.666). Game 2: 7-28 (.250)
- Game 2: Jon Koman and Larry Henderson: 4-7, 2 Runs Scored. Rest of Team: 3-21 (.143), 2 Runs Scored
- Quizno's Owings Mills 1-3 start is their worst start in 4 years when they started 2-6.

Field 3:
Game 1: Havana Club Cannons 16 (WP-Mark Yokel 2-0)  Eastern Savings Bank 4 (LP-Ted Winner 1-1) 6 Innings

The highly anticipated rematch of last year's regular season 1 and 2 seeds; and also the championship game was not to be in game 1, as the Cannons scorched out to an early 10-0 lead in the 1st two innings. Mark Yokel again was hitting spots, and the Cannons 1-5 hitters (Jeff Kurland, Dan Kassel, Chuck Easter, Mike Steller and Lou Falcon) were a combined 13-15 in game 1, scoring 13 runs and pounding Eastern starter Teddy Winner. All 4 of Yokel's runs surrendered were unearned, and a surprising yet solid victory was in hand.

Game 2: Eastern Savings Bank 13  (WP-Larry Hineline 2-0)  Havana Club Cannons 8 (LP-Tom Paulshock 1-1)

Game two was a much more even ball game, with both teams playing some decent defense behind their pitchers to keep the runs to a minimum in the first three innings. Then the wheels fell off for both Tommy Paulshock and Eastern starter Larry Heinline. Eastern went up 8-3 after 4 full; but the Cannons roared back with 4 straight singles in the top of the 5th, again from the 1-5 hitters. With two outs and the bases loaded, and the Cannons down two runs, Neal Charkatz hit a 2-2 single to center plating the two tying runs, but they proved to be the last runs that the Cannons could muster. Eastern quickly got back two more runs in the bottom half of the 5th, and again 3 more in the 6th to run away with a 13-8 win.

Game 2 hitting stars for the Cannons:
Chuck Easter 3-4, 3 runs scored and 1 rbi
Danny Kassel 2-4 2 runs scored
Neal Charkatz 2-4 2 rbis
Lou Falcon had 4 productive AB's, hitting into 2 rbi ground outs; and also getting 2 more hits with a 3rd RBI as well.

Field 4:
Game 1: Kings 20 (WP-Mike Herr 1-0)  Northwest Corridor 7 (LP-Dave Stein 1-1)

The Kings came out strong taking advantage of 5 David Stein walks and jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the 1st. Key hits for the Kings were 2 RBI 2B by Shilo Merwitz and 2 RBI single by Scott Katzen. Poor defense and sloppy play was the theme all game for the NWC as they let 4 more Kings cross the plate in the 2nd inning. Fearing a slaughter rule loss NWC showed some life in the bottom of the 3rd. Jason Ott led off with a single and Aaron Birenbaum and David Stein followed with 2 more. Triples by Howard Goldberg and Billy Beadle brought the NWC to a 12-6 deficit. That would be about all the NWC could muster against Mike Herr.

Altogether NWC committed 8 errors, while NWC starter Dave Stein walked 9 Kings batters. The Kings only outhit NWC 14-12, but the Kings took advantage of all of the gifts and won easily 20-7 in 6 innings.

Game 2:  Northwest Corridor 13 (WP-Howard Goldberg 1-1)  Kings 4 (LP-Dan Frignito 0-1)

Game 2 NWC came out fired up over their game 1 loss but couldn't produce in the top of the 1st. Howard Goldberg pitched out of a jam in the bottom of the 1st to keep the game tied. David Stein score on a fielder's choice in the 2nd and the NWC had their first lead of the afternoon. NWC pushed 2 more across in the 3rd and Goldberg getting into a groove set down the Kings in order. The Kings rallied back in the 4th scoring 3 runs, but a baserunning miscue by Keegan Retalliata, who after hitting a 2 out RBI double was tagged out rounding 2nd base before Scott Katzen could touch home plate with, what would have been the 4th run of the inning. Matt Bell and David Stein each had long doubles to give the NWC a 5-3 lead after 4 innings. NWC closed out the game in the 5th pushing across 6 insurance runs. David Stein and Scott Sweren's timely hitting started a 6 run rally on 6 consecutive base hits. Joey Liner's double and Gabe Unterman's triple in the 6th sealed the deal. Howard Goldberg kept his composure all game and pitched a solid game. Tony Esposito and Scott Sweren led a defense that was flawless throughout the game. 2 weeks, 2 splits, the NWC are only getting better watch out!

NWC starting pitcher Howard Goldberg yielded just 8 hits, while walking 5, as he picked up his first pitching win of the season. It was also NWC's first franchise victory over the Kings.
