Highlights pending.

Northwest Regional Park Field 2:
Game 1: Stingers 28 (WP-Darron Tabatznik 2-5)  Chalmers Pants Company 10 (LP-Sam Sidh 2-1) 6 Innings

Stingers opened game 1 with fireworks from Bill Jesmer and Tim Palo solo homers. It was short lived though as CPC came back into the game with their bats hot. This is how most of the game went until the Stingers started to buzz around the line up, sending 14 batters for 8 runs. CPC tried coming back, but in the 6th, Stingers extended their lead to end the game in six and give Tabatznik the win.

For the second week in a row Chalmers Pants Co. was unable to field a full 10, this time due to the injury of one player and departure of another after game 1. Missing 2 key players and with only 3 outfielders, CPC was unable to withstand several offensive attacks by the Stingers in both games. Special thanks to Vik Uberoi and Reggie Ellis for filling in this week, both played well, with Vik notching 3 hits in his first appearance. CPC looks forward to the continued participation of Reggie Ellis who will be a nice addition to the squad once all players are back on the field for our next match up.

Game 1 hitters of note for CPC:
Vik Uberoi: 3 for 4, 3RBI, 3R
Charley Barker: 3 for 4: 2B, 2RBI

Game 2: Stingers 21 (WP-Darron Tabatznik 3-5)  Chalmers Pants Company 13 (LP-Jordan Glick 0-1)

Again the Stingers opened up the gates after CPC gave a 3 spot in the first. Stingers sent 13 batters to plate with 8 crossing to take the lead. CPC would give Tabatznik their best tying the game up in the in the second. Tabatznik would not have any part of it as he pitched another win for the Stinger’s afternoon and helped his cause, legging out an in the park grand slam. Stingers would enjoy their first doubleheader win of the season to end the first half of the season on a high note.

Game 2 hitters of note for CPC:
Jordan Glick: 3 for 4, 3R
Mike Hollman: 2 for 4: 2RBI

Stingers had 2 innings where they sent 13 batters to the plate and again later 18 batters to the plate.

Northwest Regional Park Field 3:
Game 1:
Kings 17 (WP-Chuck Grant 6-1)  Havana Club Cannons 9 (LP-Mark Yokel 5-1)

The Kings were able to tag Mark Yokel and the Cannons with their first loss of the season 17-9 in the opener. In a rare occurence, the Kings doubled the hit output of the Cannons 24-12. The Cannons went deep over-the-fence 3 times (Chuck Easter, Evan Kreitzer, Felix), while Chuck Grant helped his own cause going deep in the 6th for the Kings.

Cannons took lead in t-1st on Johnny Edelman leadoff single and Easter HR. Kings came back with 7 runs in b-1st on 7 hits. Kreitzer's solo HR in t-2nd and Lou Falcon's 2 out 2 RBI single in t-3rd made score 7-5, but Kings scored 3 of their own in b-3rd to lead 10-5. In t-4th, Felix hit a 2 run HR and Easter had an RBI 3B, as the Kings lead was trimmed to 10-8. A 2 run lead against the Cannons is certainly not safe, so the Kings continued to score, pushing across 5 more runs in b-4th. RBI hits by Keegan Rettaliata, Grant, and Ressin were the key tallies. Grant's HR in b-6th was a further cushion in the Kings 17-9 win.

Offensive Stars for HCC:
Johnny Edelman (2-4,2 4 R)
Chuck Easter (3-4,3 R,3 RBI,3B,HR)
Neal Charkatz (2-4,1 R)
Evan Kreitzer (1-2,1 R,1 RBI,HR)
Felix (2-3,1 R,2 RBI,2B,HR)

Offensive Stars for the Kings:
9 of the Kings 11 batters had 2 or more hits, including Kenny Salzman (2-3,1 R,2 RBI,2B,W), Shilo Merwitz (4-4,2 R,1 RBI), Dan Frignito (2-4,2 R), Alan Varhaftik (3-4,2 R,1 RBI,2B), Chuck Grant (2-3,2 R,4 RBI,2B,HR,SF), Troy Hendricks (2-3,2 R,2 RBI,SF), Rob Ressin (3-3,1 R,1 RBI,2B,W), Mike Herr (2-4,1 R,2 RBI), Matt Zenitz (2-4,1 R,1 RBI)

Game 2: Havana Club Cannons 5 (WP-Tom Paulshock 6-0)
  Kings 4 (LP-Chuck Grant 6-2)

The Cannons scored 2 unearned runs in b-5th in coming from behind to defeat the Kings 5-4 in the nightcap. While pounding away 36 hits in the opener, the teams combined for just 13 hits in game 2. Chuck Grant pitched again for the Kings, while Tommy Paulshock took over the Cannons in game 2. Instead of 10 extra-basehits in the opener, game 2 saw just 2 doubles.

The offenses were still present in the first inning as the Kings got on the board in t-1st with Keegan Rettaliata's 2 out 2 RBI single scored Detour Dave Sandler and Shilo Merwitz. The Cannons tied the score in b-1st on Shawn Warner's 2 out 2 RBI single scoring Chuck Easter and Mike Steller. Evan Kreitzer followed with an RBI 2B, putting Cannons ahead 3-2. Kings tied score 3-3 in t-2nd on a Rob Ressin RBI fielder's choice. The score remained tied until t-5th when Dave Sandler walked with 2 outs and scored on Shilo Merwitz's single that was misplayed in RF. The Kings lead was brief as Johnny Edelman reached on a 1 out error in t-5th and scored the tie run on a Chuck Easter RBI fielder's choice. Lou Falcon's RBI single later scored Easter with the go-ahead run. Paulshock did not allow a Kings to get into scoring position in either the 6th or 7th inning, as the Cannons prevented the Kings from getting their 300th Regular Season win.

The only multi-hit players for either teams in game 2 were:
Cannons: Mike Steller (3-3,1 R)
Kings: Shilo Merwitz (2-3,1 R), Mike Herr (2-3,1 R)

Northwest Regional Park Field 4:
Game 1: NEK Entertainment  7 (WP- Dave Pridgen 2-7) L.O.F.T. 2 (LP-Andy Peksa 0-4)

After gaining some confidence in the batters box in week 2, L.O.F.T. struggled to get hits this week. Andy Peksa toed the rubber once again for L.O.F.T. and only gave up 7 runs and had 3 strikeouts, but the bats just were not there for L.O.F.T. today. Greg Prush had a clutch base hit in the bottom of the 5th to drive in Andy Peksa, after he led off the inning with a double, that cut the lead to 6-2, but L.O.F.T. did not score the rest of the game and had to settle for another loss.

Offense Stars for L.O.F.T.:
Andy Peksa: 2-3, 1 Double, 1 Run
Greg Prush: 1-2, 1 RBI

Game 2: NEK Entertainment  14 (WP- Marqui Garrett 1-0) L.O.F.T. 5 (LP-Andy Peksa 0-5)

A big first inning for N.E.K got them out to an early 6-0 lead, but L.O.F.T. battled back to cut it to 7-5 after 5 innings. In the 6th inning the bats came alive once again for N.E.K. as they took a 13-5 lead and L.O.F.T. failed to score anymore runs. It was another strong pitching performance from Andy Peksa and the defense was once again solid for L.O.F.T., the bats were just cold in week 2 for L.O.F.T. New addition Mike Wagner delivered his first RBI of the season and finished the game with 2 RBI. Brett Henry got the bat going in this game driving in 1 run and had 2 hits.

New Town High School:
Game 1: DC Dental 8 (
WP-Tzvi Friedman
1-2) Sky & Sky Inc. 7 (LP-Larry Newman 4-7)

Jeff Friedman singled home 1 for Sky & Sky in the t-1st, but D.C. Dental answered with 3 in the b-1st. That pattern continued all day as Sky & Sky 'shots' off the bat seemed to find their way into the speedy D.C. Dental outfielders' gloves. Meanwhile DC Dental singles were scattered all over the outfield, as they largely played small ball for two games. Sky & Sky struck for 4 runs on 2 triples in the 3rd, only to see D.C. Dental claw their way back to tie things after four innings. Again D.C. Dental staked out a 2-run lead, but Sky & Sky used back-to-back triples to knot things at 7 in the t-7th. D.C. Dental loaded the bases and singled home the winner to LF. Friedman took the hard earned win, while Newman took the loss 8-7. Eric Gertner went 2-3(3B, 1B,SF).

DC Dental got back in the win column with a couple of much needed wins over Sky and Sky. Offensively, DCD began to come up with key hits in crucial situations, including a walk off single in game 1, and played tight defense behind solid pitching.

Game 1 featured a complete game victory for southpaw Friedman who managed to keep his pitch count low enough to throw game 2. DCD came out strong in the first inning tallying 3 runs putting them ahead. As is the trend for DCD, the lead was promptly given back to the opponent in the 3rd inning. DCD persevered scoring 1 run in both inning 3 and 5, keeping the game close. In the bottom of the sixth with two out, Feldman knocked in 2 runs with a single up the middle. The excitement settled however when Sky and Sky came right back to tie it up in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th with a one out triple by Rombro and the next two batters intentionally walked, Orshan came through with a walk off single to secure the victory for DCD. Orshan later expressed his satisfaction not only with the victory but with the fact that he didn't have to run the bases, as he is more of a 'station to station kind of guy'.

Game 2:
DC Dental 12 (WP-Tzvi Friedman 2-2) Sky & Sky Inc. 6 (LP-Larry Newman 4-8)

Game 2 saw costly errors on both sides. The wind played havoc with deep flies, which D.C. Dental again used to their advantage to single home many runs. A leadoff triple by Brian Weiss helped pull Sky & Sky to within 1 after the visitors got 4 in the top 1st. Freedman largely shut down the Sky & Sky offense, scattering 3 runs over 6 innings. The game was as close as 8-6 in the 6th, but timely singles saw D.C. Dental add 4 insurance runs in the t-7th for the 12-6 victory--again Friedman over Newman. Again Eric Gertner swung the big stick going a productive 2 for 2 (HR,1B,SF, 3rbi 2 runs) Jeff Friedman added a triple and hit in his 2-3 nightcap.

In game 2, DCD again jumped out ahead with a 4 run inning including a leadoff homerun by Engelhart. Though Sky and Sky closed the gap to 1 in their half of the inning, DCD would stay ahead the rest of the way. They tacked on 3 in the 6th and 4 in the 7th rolling to a 12-6 victory.
