Game 1: Thunderbirds 5 (WP- Lenny Fields 2-2)  Stingers 2 (LP- Larry Newman 4-7)

Sunday's actions started off with The Thunderbirds jumping out to a 3-0 lead on Reggie Molock's RBI double (scoring Theo Battle) and Jesse Fenwick's 2 RBI single (scoring David Woods and Reggie). The Birds would add 2 more runs in the top of 5 on Theo Battle's RBI triple (scoring Manny Fontanez) and Reggie Molock's RBI single (scoring Theo). The Stingers would be held scoreless until the bottom of the 6th when 2 came across the plate but the rally would end. The Birds defense would close the opening game on a game ending 6-4-3 double play and take the win 5-2.

Stingers opened the morning with Newman taking the mound. His defense would hold off the first two batters for the Birds but then they would start looping in singles to take a 3-0 lead, but not before Newman K’d the Birds for a final out. Much would be the same as the Stingers bats would not awaken through 4 innings of play. In the top of the 5th, the Stingers would lose their concentration and allow 2 more runs from unearned bases and single. The Stingers did spark in the bottom of the 6th. With two done, it would be the birds losing their concentration and allowing the Stingers to jump on the scoreboard alongside an RBI single from Sheridan. IN the top of the seventh, the Stingers shut down the Birds ending the inning in 6-43 double play to keep sight of the lead going into the b-7th. However, the run support for Newman’s excellent pitching just wasn’t there for him.

Thunderbirds Offensive Leaders
Theo Battle 4-4, 3B, RBI, 2 R
David Woods 3-4, BB, R
Reggie Molock 2-3, 2 RBI, 2B, R
Jesse Fenwick 1-3, 2 RBI

Game 2:  Stingers 12 (WP-Tom Paulshock 3-6)  Thunderbirds 0 (LP- Lenny Fields 2-3)

In the night cap, the jumped out on top with Serkes lead off single followed by Eisenberg. Palo would then bloop in an RBI followed by Randall’s lengthy SAC for the Stingers to take a 2 spot to start the game. Paulshock then took the mound and began a GREAT day. He would shut down the first three Bird batters with the left side of his defense gobbling everything. IN the top of the 2nd, the Stingers, with runners on first and second would add on to their lead as Friedman singled and Paulshock helping his own cause thereafter. Serkes took the Birds outfield for a ride with his SAC to add another run and Beverly came back to form as he would drive in another two runs to take a 7-0 lead. When the Birds came to bat again in the b-2nd, Paulshock was ready for them shutting down their 4-5-6 with ease and not hits. The Stingers would try to encourage an early nightcap as the added on 5 more runs in the t-3rd with contributions from Sheridan (3B) Flynn, Webster, Friedman and Serkes (2RBI 3B). There was a delay in the game as Serkes tested his coconut for solidity taking a scorching throw from the outfield directly on the back of his head. With the Stingers leading by 12, the Birds came to the plate and would find their only two hits of the game off of Paulshock. Thereafter Paulshock and the Stingers would shutdown the Birds with a 12-0 win from a marvelous 2 hit pitching performance by Paulshock.

The Stingers came out the gates scoring 2 in the top of the 1st, and 5 in the 2nd. The Birds couldn't get going in the second game of the day and laid an egg while The Stingers added 5 more and took the win 12-0 in 5.

Game 1: Natty O's 8 (WP-RJ Seabeck 5-14)  Deuces Up 5 (LP -Bob )

Jeff Kapper started things off with a single in the top of the first, then hits by John Murphy, Chris Keelan and Eric Blum gave the Natty O's an early 3 run lead. The same thing happened in the second inning, this time with Jared Block getting things started with a leadoff triple which enabled the O's to score another 3 runs and take an early 6-0 lead. That was more than enough for pitcher RJ Seabeck who was really on his game, changing speeds and keeping Deuce's Up hitters off balance all day. The game was closer going into the final inning as Deuces up managed to put together a late rally, but some added insurance from Mike Connelly and Patrick Kelly kept the game out of reach for the O's.

Offensive leaders for Natty O's:
Kapper: 2-4
Mike Connelly 2-4
John Murphy 3-4

Game 2: Natty O's 4 (WP-RJ Seabeck 6-14)  Deuces Up 5 (LP -Rick Winepol 4-9  )

Runs were hard to come by in the nightcap, as The O's and Deuce's up would take a 4-3 game into the 7th inning. Mike Connelly put the O's up in the first inning after singling and being knocked home by John Murphy. Connelly would come up big for the O's again in the 3rd with his first homerun of the season. Jon Veditz and Jared Block would start the 4th inning with back to back singles and scored on a hit from Gary Bosley and a Sac fly from Patrick Kelly. Once again, the 4 runs was enough for RJ Seabeck who kept pounding the strike zone and shut down Deuce's up as they tried to rally in the 7th.

Offensive Leaders for Natty O's:
Mike Connelly: 2-4 HR, 2 Runs
JEff Kapper 2-3
Jon Veditz 3-3
Patrick Kelly 2-2, Sac Fly
