Game 1: Northwest Corridor 14 (WP- Howard Goldberg 6-1)  Natty O's 0 (LP-RJ Seabeck 3-4)  5 Innings

NWC squared off against a much improved Natty O’s (formally the Hammerheads) squad. Goldberg started on the mound for NWC allowing a base hit to SS Veditz but not letting up any runs. Scott Sweren started the scoring for NWC in the top of the 1st tripling in Jon herbst and Howard Goldberg followed with a line drive rbi knock to centerfield. That would really be all that NWC would need to defeat the Natty O’s in game #1. The NO’s managed just 4 hits and zero runs off of Goldberg while the NWC offense scored 14 runs off of Seabeck/Block and the Natty O’s defense. RJ Seabeck was ejected during a long 3rd inning for arguing balls and strikes. Jared Block relieved him on the mound but most of the damage had already been done as NWC scored 3 more in the 2rd inning and 9 more in the 3rd inning. Final Score 14-0 in 5inn.

Game 2: Northwest Corridor 16 (WP- Howard Goldberg 7-1)  Natty O's 1 (LP-RJ Seabeck 3-5)  5 Innings

NWC took the momentum from their game #1 slaughter rule win into the top of the 1st against the Natty O’s, piling on 11 runs in the top of the 1st inning. The NWC took advantage of 5 walks and 3 Natty O’s errors. Scott Sweren had a bases loaded triple and Mike Bowden drilled a bases loaded double that went to the wall on an error allowing him to score as well. Gabe Unterman added an inside the park homer in the 2nd inning and another rbi base hit in the 4th inning giving NWC a 13-0 lead. Jon Herbst drove in Matt Bell with a base hit to left field and Sweren hit a 2run single scoring both Herbst and Jon Goldman. The Natty O’s finally got on the board in the bottom of the 5th inning. RJ Seabeck hit a scorching line drive to the left centerfield gap. Jason Smulson knocked him in when Adam Silverman couldn’t handle his well hit line drive to 3rd base. Final score in the nightcap 16-1 in 5inn.

Game 1: Stingers 10 (WP-Larry Newman 3-1)  Deuces Up 2  (LP - )

Stingers opened the day up with several players missing. Larry Newman had a strong outing though as he would take care of Deuces Up 1-2-3 in the first. With Eisenberg and Serkes on base, Sheridan drove a shot though the infield driving in 2 runs. Webster would shortly follow two batters later with his own shot over the infield to score Sheridan and take a 3-0 lead. DP would battle back via the bloopers to get them on the board, but in the b-2, the Stingers’ Newman helped his own cause followed by Palo and a SAC from Eisenberg. Serkes would bring in Palo with a solid single over the middle of the DP infield to take a 5-1 lead. The game would stay this was through two more innings of play that provided solid Defense by the Stingers coming closer each time to turning double plays. IN the t-5th DP would add on another run, but that was soon answered by a Serkes’s triple as the smallest of the Stinger’s fans rooted him on for it. Sheridan would rattle the fence with his triple that scored Serkes followed by Webster’s SAC two batters later to put the ahead by 5 after 5 innings of play. DP would try to get on the board again in the sixth but had no luck. IN the b-6th, the Stingers’ bottom came got on base followed by Palo, Eisenberg, Serkes’s double, single, double to take a 10-2 lead. The Stingers would put away DP in the top of the 7th as Newman has great defense behind him to close out DP 1-2-3.

Game 2: Stingers 14 (WP- Tom Paulshock 1-3)  Deuces Up 9  (LP - )

In the nightcap ,the Stingers started off with Palo and Eisenberg on the bases as Flynn dropped in a SAC to score Palo followed by an errant thrown ball by DP’s infield that allowed Eisenberg to advance to third. Sheridan dropped a fence touching double to score Eisenberg followed two batter later by Webster’s sizzling triple for put the Stingers ahead by 4. Birenbaum, tacked on another with his driving single to give the Stingers a 5 run lead after 1. DP would bloop in a few shots to put two on the board, but the Stingers would come right back in the top of the 2nd as Paulshock helped out his cause this time followed by singles from Palo and Eisenberg. With runners on all the bases, Serkes would drive a shot into the DP outfield to put three more on the board for the Stingers for an 8-2 lead. IN the t-3rd, it was Palo again coming through with his SAC to bring in Birenbaum for a 9-2 lead, but DP would claw back into the game cutting the Stingers’ lead to 3 after 3 innings of play. After a quite 4th, the Stingers bottom would come alive again. With Birenbaum and Friedman on the bases, Palo drove in a left field shot to Score Birenbaum. Serkes two batters later would drive in two more runs for the Stingers (8 RBIs total in this game alone) to extend the Stingers lead to 6. DP came back with another run in the 5th and two more in the 6th to make it a 12-9 game. However, with Palo on and one out, Eisenberg would grab a hold of one and drive it to the left field fence, also slipping on a loose second to have a 2 run homerun and put the Stingers up 14-9. Paulshock would get his first win of the season and the Stingers swept Deuce up on the day.

It does need to be noted that both games were fun as there were no arguments and the camaraderie was high between the two teams.
