Game 1: Green Machine 18 (WP- John Reichert 3-7)  Thunderbirds 4 (LP-Lenny Fields 2-9 ) 6 Innings

Green Machine came into week 12 looking for a sweep to put pressure on the Natty O's in the fight for 5th place. The green bats came out hot in the 1st inning with a walk from Nick Serkes followed by Jonathan Stacey's first career over-the-fence homerun. Matt Boden kept things going with a double and later scored on a Skyler Dickinson sac fly. The Thunderbirds were able to get 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game. Both teams went scoreless in the 2nd, but GM added 3 more in the 3rd with an RBI single from Dickinson to score Stacey and a 2 RBI single from Billy Giles to score Andy Peksa and Josh Vaeth. The T-Birds got 1 back in the bottom to make it a 6-4 GM lead.

The game really opened up in the 4th inning! Newly promoted lead off hitter Chris Goodwin got a single with Nick Serkes and Stacey following with singles of their own. A Boden sac fly scored Goodwin, and after a Peksa fly out there was 2 outs with 2 men on. GM went on a 2 out tear with 6 consecutive 2 out RBI singles from Vaeth, Dickinson, Giles, Mark Winkel, John Reichert, and Goodwin to give GM a 13-4 lead. The Greenies added another run in the 5th inning with a Stacey inside-the-park HR, his 6th insider of the season and 7 HRs overall over the campaign. GM stayed hot in the 6th inning thanks to a walk from Goodwin, an RBI double from Stacey, and a 2 RBI double by Peksa who later scored on an RBI single by Vaeth. Thanks to pitcher John Reichert, who shut down the Thunderbirds with 0 runs in the 4th, 5th, or 6th innings, GM was able to mercy rule the T-Birds 18-4 after 6 innings.

Thunderbirds Offensive Leaders:
Kevin Menedis 2-2, R

Game 2:  Green Machine 10 (WP- Bob Mallonee 6-5)  Thunderbirds 3 (LP- Harry Kinsey 2-5)

After an offensive anomaly for GM in game 1, the green shirts were out to prove that it was not an aberration. Consecutive 1 out singles from Serkes, Stacey, and Boden along with an RBI ground out from Peksa put 2 early runs on the board. The 2nd inning was much of the same with a lead off single by Dickinson, a Giles double, and a walk by Winkel to load the bases. Goodwin hit a deep sac fly to score Dickinson, and Serkes drove in Giles and Winkel with a monster triple. In the 3rd inning, Peksa reached base again with a single, and miraculously scored from first on an infield throwing error by the T-Birds 3rd baseman.

The Thunderbirds were able to get 1 run in the 3rd and 2 more in the 4th to put some pressure on Green Machine. GM answered the challenge when Boden hit a lead off double followed by a fleet-footed Peksa getting his first lifetime inside-the-park homerun (unconfirmed statistic.) GM refused to quit hitting as they got 2 more runs in the 6th inning thanks to a Bob Mallonee single, a Goodwin triple and a Serkes sac fly. Mallonee was dominant on the bump throughout the game, and like his fellow flamethrower Reichert, held the Thunderbirds to 0 runs in his final 3 innings pitched.

GM Box Score:
Chris Goodwin: 2-3, 1 3B, 1 SF, 1 R, 2 RBI
