Game 1: Bombers 11 (WP- Tzvi Friedman 16-5)
Outlaws 2 (LP-Larry Newman 3-13)
The Nationwide Insurance Bombers kept the pressure on the
Kings and Sky with a doubleheader sweep of the Outlaws to remain 1 game behind
the Kings and tied with Sky for 2nd place. Tzvi Friedman pitched and won both
games while Nemo pitched valiantly but came away with 2 loses. Game 1 final was
11-2 and game 2 was 9-5.
The Outlaws took an early 1-0 1st inning lead on a bases loaded walk. The
Bombers took the lead in the bottom of the 1st by scoring 3 runs. Yakobovitch
led off with an infield single ,Georgie reached on an error and Ben Guttman hit
a 2 run single. Luxenberg’s fly ball was misplayed and Guttman scored. In the
2nd, the Bombers scored another unearned run on Lichter’s single and Johnson’s
single that was turned into a double. Friedman was holding down the Outlaws
powerful offense and the Bombers kept up the attack. In the 4th, manager Dave
Finkelstein gave his 200th motivational speech of the season and the team
responded with 2 more runs. Luxenberg led off with a triple and Gardner hit a HR
over the CF fence.
The Bombers tacked on 5 more runs in the 5th for an 11-1 lead. Strauss hit a HR
to LCF and after a Yakobovitch double, Pridgen walked and B. Gutman hit a bullet
up the middle for his 3rd RBI of the game. Flamm walked and Luxenberg’s RBI GO
plated Gutman. Loeb’s single to left scored 2 more. The Outlaws scored 1 more in
the 6th to make the final score 11-2.

Game 2: Bombers 9 (WP- Tzvi Friedman 17-5) Outlaws 5 (LP-Larry Newman 3-14)
In game 2, the Bombers jumped out to an 8-0 lead before the
Outlaws kept pecking away at the lead to make it close before falling 9-5. . In
the top of the 1st, Strauss singled and Ben Gutman hit an RBI double. Georgie
walked and Luxenberg singled home Gutman and took 2nd on the throw home. Gardner
singled home 2 runs , Loeb singled and Friedman helped his own cause by singling
in Gardner for the 5-0 lead. In the 2nd Dan Guttman singled, Strauss doubled him
home and Johnson doubled home Strauss for a 7-0 lead. In the 3rd, Flamm and
Gardner singled and Loeb’s SAC fly made it 8-0.
In the 4th, the Outlaws got on the board with 2 runs. The damage could have been
much greater but Friedman made the play of the game. On a smash up the middle
with 2 on and 2 out, he stopped the ball, dove towards 3rd, picked up the ball
and while on the ground threw it on an underhanded flip to Flamm at 3rd base to
get the force out. The Bombers scored their 9th and final run of the game in 5th
on an unearned run. After Johnson doubled, B Gutman’s force out which turned
into an error plated the speedy Johnson. The Bombers held on for the 9-5
victory.

Game 1: Northwest Corridor 15 (WP-Howard Goldberg 6-7)
Natty O's 11 (LP-RJ Seabeck 10-14)
NWC and the Natty O’s went to battle with juts 2 weeks left
in the regular season. Things started out exciting right off the bat as Natty
O’s jumped all lover NWC starter Howard Goldberg for 6 1st inning runs. NWC not
feeling detected, came right back with 6 runs of their own against RJ Seabeck in
the bottom half of the inning. The slugfest continued as Natty O’s plated runs
in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings. NWC matched then hit for hit and took the lead
by scoring runs of their own in the 2nd, 4th and 6th innings.
NWC’s top 4 batters all had 3 hit days, 11 batters had hits in the game, 8 walks
were drawn and 7 NWC batters had rbi hits. For the first time in franchise
history back to back to back triples were hit in the 6th inning.

Game 2: Northwest Corridor 10 (WP-Ted Winner 10-3) Natty O's 4 (LP-Rob Medoff 1-1)
The 2nd game was a little more uneventful as NWC defeated
Natty O’s 10-4 in a game that seemed to have much less energy. Natty O’s managed
a run off Winner in the 1st and 3rd innings, then a quick 2run rally in the 4th.
NWC scored a run in every inning but the 5th and 7th.

Northwest Regional Park Field 4: Umpire- Jeff Kurland
Game 1: Kings 6 (WP-Mike Herr 13-2) Green Machine 3 (LP-John Reichert 3-8)
A close game throughout, the Kings held on to beat Green Machine in the opener 6-3. In b-1st, Koby Sarubin reached to leadoff on infield hit. Singles by Steve Levy to RF and Shilo Merwitz to LCF put the Kings up 1-0. In b-2nd, Troy Hendricks led off with 3B with hits by Glenn Savage (RBI 2B), Brad Millison (RBI 2B), and Kenny Salzman (RBI 1B) putting Kings ahead 4-0.
Kings starting pitcher Mike Herr and GM starter John Reichert both sailed thru innings 3-5 without allowing a run. In t-6th with 2 outs, Logan Malane tripled and Chris Romero doubled (RBI) to get GM on scoreboard. In b-6th, Kings got 2 insurance runs as Arin Gelletly doubled, Jan Katzen singled (RBI) and with 2 outs, Glenn Savaged singled (RBI). Kings lead after 6 innings was 6-1.
In t-7th, with 1 out, consecutive singles by Billy Giles, Jon Stacey, Mike Randall, and Andy Peksa (RBI) led to 2 runs and brought the tie run to the plate, still with 1 out. Herr was able to retire Brad Verbovsky on a foul out to RF and then got Mark Winkel on a called 3rd strike to end game.

Kings pounded out 20 hits in just 4 innings, defeating Green Machine 17-0 with Chuck Grant tossing the shutout. 4 different Kings players had 3 hits: Steve Levy, Shilo Merwitz, Arin Gelletly, and Brad Millison. Kings scored 5 runs in t-1st off starter John Reichert. Because of the quick pace of game 1, Green Machine scheduled game 2 starter Bob Mallonee did not arrive in time to start the game. When Mallonee did get into game to start t-2nd, Kings scored 5 more runs in t-2nd and 7 more runs in t-3rd. Kings starter Chuck Grant allowed just 5 singles in 4 innings of work.
