Northwest Regional Park Field 1:    Umpire- Reggie Grant
Game 1: Outlaws 6 (WP-Larry Newman 2-9)  Green Machine 5 (LP-John Reichert 2-6)

Green Machine and the Outlaws continued their newly formed tradition of close games in an exciting double header. Game 1 saw the Outlaws jump out to an early 3-0 lead after the top of the 2nd inning, but GM got 2 back with lead off singles by Andy Peksa and Billy Giles followed by an RBI double from Logan Malane and a sac fly from Skyler Dickinson. The Outlaws put up 1 run in the 4th and another in the 5th to take a 5-2 lead, but GM got 1 back in the bottom of the 5th inning. Dickinson lead off with a single, and then showed good base running getting to 3rd base with 1 out which allowed a Josh Vaeth sac fly to score him. The Outlaws got 1 more run in the top of the 6th, but GM looked to answer in the bottom. Mike Randall hit a 1 out double to start things up, followed by Peksa's 3rd hit of the game and a walk by Giles to load the bases. A controversial infield fly rule call by the umpire where the ball was not close to being caught led to Randall scoring but took away a chance to keep the bases loaded with only 1 out, which proved costly as the next batter flew out to end the inning on what surely would have led to the tying run on a sac fly if there had only been 1 out. Down 1 run going into the bottom of the 7th, Mark Winkel was able to leg out an infield single to start the inning. Vaeth drew a 1 out walk to put the tying run on base which was followed by a fielders choice combined with an error which scored Winkel and left the tying run at 1st, but the runner was stranded as the game ended 6-5.

Get your popcorn ready for the rematch of the Outlaws vs. Green Machine on field 1. In top of the first the Outlaws got it rolling with Chas West's leadoff single. Darnell Maxwell follows that with a single. 3 batters later David Woods lashes a line drive into left center for a 2 RBI double scoring West and Maxwell. Green Machine matches the Outlaws with 2 in the bottom of the frame. 2-2 after 1. Bryant Jackson leads off the second with a chinger to dead center for a leadoff triple. Will McRae draws a walk. Maurice Scott gets an RBI sac fly to score Jackson and give the Outlaws the lead. Green Machine puts one on the board at the bottom of the frame to tie it again at 3. This game was like a boxing match back and forth all game as teams exchanged blows all game. You land one and I coming right back at you!

In the third inning Darnell Maxwell leads off with a bloop double in between the green men. 3 batters later the Green Machine manager intentionally walks David Woods taking the bat out of his hand to pitch to John Roiy. Roiy hits a shot up the middle but a great web gem by the shortstop Serkes keeps the Outlaws off the board. In the fourth inning Will McRae joins the hit parade with a one out single. Maurice Scott also joined in the fun with a single of his own. 2 batters later Theo Battle rocks a double down the first base line for an RBI double to score McRae. Once again the green team knots it at 4 after 4. 4's are wild 4-4 after 4.

In the fifth the Outlaws keep fighting as Darnell Maxwell leads it off again with a single for his second hit of the game. 3 batters later David Woods goes up the middle for his second hit. John Roiy making his season debut, makes a statement that's he's back, with a double to the gap to plate Maxwell for an RBI double. Ace Larry Newman keeps Green off the board in the bottom of the frame. 5-4 after 5. In the sixth, Maurice Scott draws a one out walk. 2 batters later Theo Battle hits another bomb to score Scott for another RBI double. Green Machine battles back to put one on the board to make the score 6-5 after 6. Both teams go scoreless in the seventh as the Outlaws take the opener 6-5.

Game 2:  Green Machine 9 (WP-Bob Mallonee 5-5)  Outlaws 8 (LP-Larry Newman 2-10)

The Outlaws once again took the early lead with a first inning run, which held up until the top of the 3rd when GM was finally able to get some momentum. Winkel got a 1 out single, followed by a crushing 2 out triple by Giles who scored when Nick Serkes reached on an error. Vaeth followed with a single and then Jonathan Stacey broke out of his mini-slump with an RBI double to score Serkes. However, the 2 out rally ended when Peksa flew out for the 1 and only at bat that he didnt get a hit all day. The Outlaws answered back with 3 runs of their own to retake the lead in the bottom of the 3rd to make it a 4-3 game. In the top of the 4th, Malane got on with a 2 out single which was followed by a Winkel triple down the right field line to beat the shift, mistakenly thinking that Winkel was just a pull hitter. The Outlaws continued their pesky trend of scoring 1 run in almost every inning and were able to take the lead back in the bottom. Vaeth blasted a 1 out triple into the gap and scored on a Stacey sac fly to tie the game once again. With another run in the bottom of the 5th, the Outlaws held onto a 6-5 lead. But that did not last long as Dickinson led off the 6th inning with a lasered shot that he was able to run out for an inside the park home run. GM was finally able to keep the Outlaws scoreless in the bottom of the 6th. Tied going to the 7th, GM got a lead off single from Serkes, Vaeth hit into a fielders choice, and Stacey hit a blooper to center to get 2 men on with 1 out. That's when the scintillating Peksa came through with a clutch 2 RBI double to give GM their first lead of the entire double header, a measly 13 1/2 innings into the day. Randall followed this up with a double of his own to score Peksa and give GM a valuable insurance run. That last run proved the difference maker, as the Outlaws were able to string together a bunch of hits to score 2 runs. But with 2 outs and 2 men on base, a hard ground ball to 3rd base was blocked by Andy "Machado" Peksa, who gathered the ball in the dirt and dove to tag 3rd base for the force out to end the game 9-8.

ame 2 of this slugfest, as both teams came out swinging! Larry Newman keeps Green Machine off the board the top of the first. In the bottom of the first Maurice Scott leads the Outlaws off in the right direction with a single. Darnell Maxwell matches that with a single of his own. 3 batters later the Green Machine manager once again takes the bat out of the dangerous David Woods hands with an intentional walk loading the bases. Next batter John Roiy after a 7 pitch at bat draws RBI walk to plate Maxwell to give the Outlaws a quick 1-0 lead. Green Machine finally caught up to Nemo a little bit putting up 3 in top of the second. Bob Mallonee had his knuckles, and curves working to keep the Outlaws off the board in the bottom of the inning. GM 3-1 after 2. GM gets another one over taking a 4-1 lead until the Outlaws got serious. The power hitting Larry Newman leads off with single. Maurice Scott matches Nemo with a single of his own for his second hit of the game. 3 batters later Josh Friedman bangs a double to score Nemo and Scott, but after a throwing error into second Friedman motors around the bases to score to tie the game at 4.

In the top of the fourth Green Machine once again puts one over to regain the lead at 5-4. However in the bottom of the inning Theo Battle kills the ball to the fence for a leadoff triple. Lucki Lemon Jr. hits a deep fly ball for an RBI sac fly to score Battle an once again tie the score at 5. Green Machine once again gets one over to regain the lead at 6-5 in the top of the fifth. Maurice Scott gets another leadoff single for his third hit of the game. Darnell Maxwell reaches on a fielders choice. Stanley Lyles lines a single in left. 2 batters later David Woods ropes an RBI single down the third base line to score Maxwell, and once tie the game at 6. Green Machine gets another run to take the lead 7-6. Outlaws go quietly in the sixth once again leaving runners in scoring position. Green Machine takes advantage plating 2 in the top of the 7th to take a 9-6 lead into the bottom of the frame.

The Outlaws down 3 going into the bottom of the 7th it's now of never as they rise to the uphill battle challenge. Maurice Scott continues his reign of terror with his fourth consecutive leadoff single. Maurice Scott is the second Outlaws player in its brief history to have a 4 hit game!!! The clutch hitting Darnell Maxwell matches Scott with a single of his own for his second hit. Stanley Lyles gets an infield single to load the bases. Josh Friedman hits a long pop fly for an RBI sac fly to score Scott. 9-7 one out in the bottom of the seventh. Can't you just feel the suspense? I bet you would like to know what happened next? Well I'm gonna tell you. With first base open David Woods gets his second intentional walk of the game to load the bases. John Roiy once again working the count, lines a shot down the third base line on a controversial call that could've went either way was called foul after going over the bag. Next pitch Roiy tries the line again but was picked nicely by the third baseman Peska. Maxwell scored on the force out to close the lead to 9-8. Bryant Jackson with 2 out and 2 on hits another shot down third once again knocked down by Peska who hustled to tag third to seal the deal for the Green Machine in a very well played game by both teams. 9-8 Green Machine wins a nail biter.

Northwest Regional Park Field 2:    Umpire- Mark Radom
Game 1: Thunderbirds 19 (WP- Harry Kinsey 2-3)  Natty O's 7 (LP-RJ Seabeck 6-12)  6 Innings

The action started as The Thunderbirds took the field against The Natty O's. Natty would get 1 in in the top of 1st and go up 1-0 as they held The Birds scoreless. In the 2nd, Natty would go silently but the same wouldn't be said for The Birds. In the bottom of the 2nd, Tony Barner would launch a Seabeck pitch over the LC fence to tie the game at 1. Nick Perehinec would 2B and come in on Kenny Kreyling's RBI 1B. Dana Anderson would ROE and Kevin Menedis would draw a free pass to juice the bases. Lenny Fields' RBI 1B would plate Kreyling. Jeff Kapper's 1B would bring Menedis in. Natty 1- Birds 4. Mike Silverman would get a free pass from Seabeck to load the bases. Another Seabeck free pass to Jake Neville would bring in Fields. Zach Neville's 1B would bring Kap in, Natty 1-Birds 6. In his second AB of the inning, Barner's 1B brought in Silverman and keep the bases loaded. Perehinec would clear the bases with an inside the park HR to RC. Kreyling would get his second 1B of the inning and 2 batters later score on Menedis' RBI 1B. At the end of the inning, Natty 1- Birds 12.

Natty got 3 in the top of 3 to trail 12-4. The Birds would respond as Silverman reached on FC and came in on Zach's RBI 1B. After 3, Natty 4, Birds 13. Natty refused to lay down as they got another in the top of 4. Again, The Birds would get the run (and then some) back. Perehinec got a leadoff 2B and came around on Kreyling's RBI 2B. Menedis's RBI 1B would bring in Kreyling to make it Natty 5, Birds 16.

In the 5th, Natty brought 2 more in to keep chipping away at the Thunderbird lead. But The Birds felt this was the time to conclude the early game as six consecutive 1B's from Zach, Barner, Perehinec (scoring Zach), Kreyling (scoring Barner), Dana Anderson, and Menedis (scoring Perehinec) would end the opener early by the score of Natty 7, Birds 19 in 5 innings.

The Natty O's started game 1 with only 8 players but were able to jump out to an early 1-0 lead after a HR by the second batter of the game Kris Stahle. The O's had a fill in from former Natty O's (formerly hammerheads) second basemen Matt Zenitz who provided a couple of base hits. Pitcher RJ Seabeck who drove in from PA in order to give the O's 9 players arrived in time to pitch in the bottom of the first but without being able to warm up the Thunderbirds pounced and seemed to find every hole imaginable to put up a big 12 spot in the bottom of the first. The O's would try and rally with RJ Seabeck, Sean Connelly and Greg Barr all scoring in the 3rd inning but it just wasn't enough as the Thunderbirds defeated a depleted Natty O's squad 19-7.

Gary Bosley 1-1, RBI

Game 2:  Natty O's 5 (WP-RJ Seabeck 7-12)  Thunderbirds 1 (LP-Lenny Fields 2-7)

Instead of packing it in, the Natty O's would battle hard during game 2. The O's once again jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to another first run HR, this time by RJ Seabeck who went opposite field. Former player Matt Zenitz had to leave in the third inning due to a hamstring, forcing the O's to play just 8 in the field the rest of the game. It didn't matter however as RJ Seabeck was dealing all game and had help from Solid defense behind him. The O's would take a 3-1 lead into the 4th inning when Jason Smulson led off with a triple and came into score from another triple by Sean Connelly 2 batters later. Smulson would again lead off the 6th inning with a walk and come around to score to give the O's their 5th and final run of the game. That was more than enough for RJ and the O's as the Thunderbirds were shut down the rest of the game and the Natty O's came through with just 8 players, beating the Thunderbirds 5-1.

The second game started as Natty held The Birds and scored once to go up 1-0. In the top of 2nd, The Birds got only score as Zach Neville and Tony Barner hit consecutive 1B's. A free pass to Nick Perehinec and Kenny Kreyling (scored Zach) made it 1-1. But Natty responded to go up 2-1. Natty score one in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings to take the second game 5-1.

Northwest Regional Park Field 3:    Umpire- Scott Snyder
Game 1: Sky & Sky Inc 12 (WP-Jay Walle 4-2)  Nationwide Bombers 4 (LP-Tzvi Friedman 13-4)

Sky and the Nationwide Insurance Bombers squared off and in game 1, Sky broke the Bombers 10 game winning streak. The Bombers won the nightcap in thrilling fashion. Sky took the opener 12-4. They outplayed the Bombers in every facet. The Bombers highlights were an RBI single by Flamm in the 1st, a run scoring double in the 2nd by Meir Parry, an RBI GO by Dan Gutman in the 4th and a HR in the 6th by Shulie Hochman. On the play, Andy Bloom got hurt and valiantly tried to play on but sat out game 2 as a result. Jay Walle outpitched Tzvi Friedman for the victory.

Game 2:  Nationwide Bombers 9 (WP-Tzvi Friedman 14-4)  Sky & Sky Inc. 8 (LP- Jay Walle 4-3)

Game 2 was a different story. The Bombers showed a lot of heart and won the game in the bottom of the 7th on a 2 run walk off homer by Hochman that sailed over the LF fence. Sky jumped out to a 1-0 1st inning lead on an RBI GO by Andy Vanlandingham. The Bombers tied it up in the 1st. Gershon led off with a Walk and Mikie Georgie’s double put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Ben hit an RBI GO. Friedman pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the 2nd. The Bombers took the lead in the 2nd, 3-1 on an RBI single by Chaim Finkelstein and Lichter’s SAC Fly. Sky tied it in the 3rd, 3-3 , and jumped on Friedman for 5 in the 4th. The big blow was a grand slam by Vanlandingham.

Sky was leading 8-3 but the Bombers clawed their way back. Ben Gutman singled home Gershon who had singled with one out. The Bombers inched closer with 2 in the 6th. Lichter’s double scored Hochman (single) and Loeb (Walk). The score was now 8-6. In the 7th, Sky had 2 on and then a ball was hit in the gap. It looked like both runs would score and Sky would go up by 4. However, Gershon made the catch of the year with an all-out dive to thwart Sky. It was one of the best catches that you will see in any league. This came on the heels of Sky’s SS Blank making a spectacular play to rob Jason Gardner of a game tying 2 run single in the 6th.

Georgie led off the bottom of the 7th with a single. Ben walked and Flamm hit into a force-out. Gardner’s single made it 8-7 but on the play, Matt Holley gunned down Flamm trying to advance to 3rd. One on, 2 outs, Hochman took Walle’s 1st pitch and hit it over the LF fence for the walkoff. The win moved the Bombers back to one game behind Sky and the Kings.

Matt Bell singled to left field, but NWC decided not to challenge the arm of Kings LF Arin Gelletly or cut-off man Arin Gelletly. With the bases loaded and 2 outs, Chris Zittle hit a sharp grounder to Kings thirdbaseman Jan Katzen and Katzen was able to beat Carter to the bag for a forceout to end the ballgame.
