Game 1: Kings 9 (WP-Chuck Grant 4-1)  Nationwide Bombers 8 (LP-Tzvi Friedman 14-5)

Kings Steve Levy's 2 out bases loaded 1B in b-7th broke a tie and gave Kings 9-8 win in the opener against the Nationwide Bombers. Bombers took early 3-0 lead in t-1st on RBI 1B by Shulie Hochman, RBI 2B by Tzvi Friedman, and RBI 1B by Chaim Finkelstein. Kings narrowed the margin with 2 runs in b-1st on 2 out RBI 1B by Alan Varhaftik and RBI 2B by Troy Hendricks. In Kings b-2nd with bases loaded and 2 outs, Shilo Merwitz cleared the bases with a 3 RBI 3B down the line in RF. Following a walk to Arin Gelletly, Alan Varhaftik hit an RBI 2B giving Kings 6-3 lead.

Kings starter Mike Herr allowed 5 hits in 1st inning, but settled down to retire 11 batters in-a-row into the 5th inning. Bombers Yoyo Strauss doubled with 1 out, but Herr was able to get the final 2 outs of the inning keeping the Kings ahead 6-3. In b-5th, Arin Gelletly doubled with 1 out and Troy Hendricks doubled with 2 outs making Kings lead 7-3.In b-6th, singles by Steve Levy, Herr, and Koby Sarubin (RBI) extended Kings lead 8-3. In t-6th, with 2 outs and 0 on, Mike Georgie singled, Ben Gutman and David Flamm both walked to load the bases. Shuli Hochman hit a 2 RBI 1B to LF and Tzvi Friedman hit an RBI 1B to RCF to cut Kings lead 8-6.

In t-7th, a leadoff 1B up the middle by Strauss and walk to Yosse Lehrman chased Herr from the mound as the Kings brought in Chuck Grant from the bullpen. Grant was able to get the first batter he faced on a strikeout, but RBI singles by Dan Gutman and Meir Parry tied the game 8-8 and put runners on 2nd and 3rd base with just 1 out. With the Kings infield drawn in, Grant was able to retire Steven Georgie on an infield popup and with the infield moved back, Ben Gutman on a flyout to LCF.

In b-7th, Shilo Merwitz led off with a single and advanced to 2nd base on an outfield throwing error. Arin Gelletly was walked intentionally. Alan Varhaftik flew out to RCF, but it was deep enough to allow Merwitz to tag and advanced to 3rd base with just 1 out. Troy Hendricks was then walked intentionally to load the bases, setting up a force at home. The strategy appeared to work as Bombers starter Tzvi Friedman was able to get Michael Kleeman out on an infield popup for the 2nd out. Steve Levy, however, settled the game with a sinking linedrive single into RCF, giving the Kings an exciting game 1 win 9-8.

Bombers again came out strong scoring 4 runs in b-1st. Bombers loaded bases on leadoff singles by Steven Georgie and Ben Gutman, along with walk to David Flamm. 2 RBI 1B by Shulie Hochman and 2 RBI 1B by Yoyo Strauss had Bombers ahead 4-0. Lead became 6-0 in b-2nd as Meir Parry and Yakov Lichter led off with singles. With 1 out, an infield error allowed Parry to score and Lichter was later able to score on an infield RBI groundout by David Flamm.

The Kings finally got on scoreboard in t-4th. With 2 outs and 0 on, Shilo Merwitz doubled, Arin Gelletly was issued an intentional walk, and Alan Varhaftik hit a 2 RBI 2B. The Kings threatened again in t-5th with runners on the corner and just 1 out with Koby Sarubin at the plate. Sarubin grounded out to first baseman Ben Gutman and Gutman threw home to Yakov Lichter who tagged out Matt Friedman attempting to score on a very close play at the plate. The doubleplay for the Bombers kept their lead at 6-2.

In t-6th, Troy Hendricks led off with a walk and Merwitz singled. Gelletly hit an RBI 2B and Alan Varhaftik walked to load the bases with none out. Steve Levy, the game 1 hero, cleared the bases with a 3 RBI 2B tying the score 6-6. Following an infield groundout, Chuck Grant hit a SF to RCF to put Kings ahead 7-6. In b-6th, Chaim Finkelstein singled to leadoff inning. Grant was able to retire the next 2 batters, but Yakov Lichter reached on a 2 out infield error. Yosse Lehrman made the error hurt as he tied the game with an RBI 1B to LF.

In t-7th, Kenny Salzman walked and Koby Sarubin singled to start inning. Following a flyout, Shilo Merwitz hit an RBI 1B scoring Salzman, with Merwitz advancing to 2nd base on the throw towards home. Arin Gelletly was issued, yet, another walk, his 5th on the day. With the bases loaded and 1 out, Bombers starter Tzvi Friedman was able to retire Alan Varhaftik on a rare strikeout and then got Steve Levy to flyout to limit the damage to just 1 run. In b-7th, Ben Gutman singled and Shulie Hochman tied the score again on a 1 out RBI 2B. The Kings elected to walk Tzvi Friedman intentionally. Yoyo Strauss hit a foul ball between the right field foul line and the fence, with Kings RF Michael Kleeman making an outstanding diving catch for the out. The alert Bombers baserunners advanced to 2nd and 3rd base, but Kleeman's fabulous play recorded the 2nd out of the inning. Grant was able to then retire Chaim Finkelstein on a routine flyout to Kleeman in RF.

The Kings were unable to score in t-8th. In b-8th, Dan Gutman reached on an infield error to start inning. Meir Parry followed with a 2B to LCF. Yakov Lichter was intentionally walked. Yossie Lehrman gave the Bombers a win with an RBI 1B over the head of the drawn in Kings outfield in LCF.

The Thunderbirds grab an early lead scoring 1 at the bottom of the frame. 1-0 Birds after 1. In the top of the 2nd, Josh Friedman leads it off with a triple. David Woods brings him in with an RBI sac fly to tie the game at 1. John Roiy draws a walk. Chas West singles. Lucki Lemon Jr. hits an RBI single to bring in Roiy to give the Outlaws a 2-1 lead. Larry Newman keeps the Birds off the board in the bottom to keep the score 3-1 after 2. In the top of the third Nemo finds a gap to get a lead off single. Bryant Jackson hits a bomb to deep center, and puts it into fifth gear to leg out a 2 RBI inside the park home run, also scoring Lucki who ran for Nemo to pad the lead to 5-1. Reggie Molock keeps the rally going with a single. Stanley Lyles follows that with a double. The Outlaws continue to add another run in the fourth as Maurice Scott gets a one out single. 2 batters later Bryant Jackson singles for his second hit of the game. Reggie Molock finds a hole for an RBI single to score Scott. 9-1 after the top of the fourth. The Thunderbirds not going out with a fight come back to score 6 runs in the bottom of the fourth. The big blow was a bases clearing triple by Kreyling who nicely placed the ball into right center between the Outlaws outfield. 9-7 after 4. Harry Kinsey keeps the Outlaws off the board in the top of the fifth. The Birds put another one up to close the gap to 9-8 after 5. The Outlaws get blanked again in the 6th. The Birds take advantage and tie the game at 9. 9-9 after 6.

The Outlaws start having flashbacks to the first meeting when the score was tied going into the seventh inning and the Birds won the game with a walk off home run. But this time the outcome would be different. Reggie Molock leads off with a single for his third hit of the game, and advances to third on a throwing error. Josh Friedman gives the Outlaws what they needed with a deep fly to plate Molock for the game winning RBI sac fly. 10-9 going into the bottom of the seventh. The Birds make it interesting with a runner on third base, but the Outlaws keep the run from scoring to seal the win 10-9 in an exciting game.

The Thunderbirds took the field against The Outlaws. In the Bot-1, The Birds would get a 1-0 lead as Mike Silverman singled and scored on Tony Barner's RBI 1B. The Outlaws scored 3 (2nd), 5 (3rd), and 1 (4th) to jump out to a 9-1 lead. The Birds would respond with 4 consecutive 1B's from Kevin Menedis, Silverman, Matt Monto (RBI scoring Menedis), and Barner (RBI scoring Silverman). Dana Anderson would get a free pass from Nemo to load the bases. Kenny Kreyling would clear the bases with a 3B and later score on Lenny Fields' RBI SF to cut the deficit to 9-7.

In the 5th, the Outlaws went silently but The Birds drew closer as Jeff Kapper 2B'd and scored on Silverman's RBI 1B. In the 6th, the Outlaws were held again and The Birds loaded the bases as Barner got a free pass from Nemo, followed by 1B's from Anderson and Kreyling. Gary Bosley plated Barner with an RBI SF. Game 2 the Outlaws send Alex Newman who was just called up from triple A, to make his first start for the Outlaws, pitched a scoreless first inning to start off good mojo for the Outlaws. Game 1: Natty O's 10 (WP-RJ Seabeck 8-12)  Green Machine 5 (LP-John Reichert 2-7)

Green Machine and the Natty O's kicked off another exciting set of games with "Big" John Reichert taking the mound for GM. Although the O's got on the board in the top of the 1st, GM tied it in the bottom with an inside the park home run from Jonathan Stacey. The O's came back with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd, and GM once again matched it in the bottom. Mike Randall started the rally with a lead off triple, followed by a Brad Verbosky walk, an RBI single from Billy Giles, and an RBI double from Mark Winkel. The O's once again put up 2 runs in the 3rd, and GM could only manage 1 run thanks to consecutive singles from Chris Goodwin, Andy Peksa, and Randall. While the Natty O's continued to keep scoring runs for the rest of the game, GM could only manage 1 more run thanks to a Verbosky RBI double in the 5th inning. Other than that, the Natty O's shut down the green bats to come away with a comfortable 10-5 win.

GM Box Score:
Mark Winkel: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Jonathan Stacey: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 R, 1 RBI
Chris Goodwin: 3-4, 1 R
Andy Peksa: 2-4, 1 R
Mike Randall: 2-4, 1 3B, 1 R, 1 RBI
Brad Verbosky: 1-2, 1 BB, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI

Game 2:  Green Machine 13 (WP-Billy Giles 1-0)  Natty O's 7 (LP-RJ Seabeck 8-13)  6 Innings time stoppage

GM got on the scoreboard first in game 2 thanks to Goodwin being moved up to the lead off spot and continued to get on base with a lead off single. Nick Serkes drove him in with an RBI double, and then walks from Peksa and Giles loaded the bases with 2 outs but Winkel was unable to get a hit. The Natty O's were up against GM pitcher Billy Giles making his PMMSL pitching debut, and Giles did a great job holding the O's to just 2 runs over his first 4 innings. Meanwhile, GM was able to get Giles a lead in the 3rd inning with a lead off Goodwin walk, a Stacey single, and a 2 RBI double from Randall. GM kept the momentum going in the 4th inning with a lead off triple from Winkel followed by a Logan Malane sac fly. The game really got interesting in the 5th inning when GM got the bases loaded when Serkes reached on error, Stacey doubled, and Randall walked. Peksa once again came through in the clutch with a 2 RBI single. After Giles popped up to make the 2nd out, Winkel got his 2nd triple in as many innings to drive in 2 more runs but was left stranded on third when Verbosky struck out looking to end the inning. The O's came back and scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th with Giles struggling with control compounded by timely hits from the orange men. Nursing a 1 run lead going into the top of the 6th, GM was able to apply the dagger forcefully. Malane got a lead off walk, and was able to hustle to second on a ground ball to short beating out the throw, which allowed time for the tortoise-like Reichert to reach first base on the throwing error. Goodwin followed this up with a single to each base for the 6th time on the day and load the bases for Serkes who lasered a shot down the 3rd base line to clear the bases for a 3 RBI double. Stacey was up next, and crushed a liner down the right field that allowed him to leg out his 2nd inside the park home run on the day. Giles was able to settle down in the bottom of the 6th and prevented any more runs from the O's, and the game ended 13-6 after 6 innings due to the time limit being exceeded. A special note of thanks to Natty O's players who openly expressed their dissatisfaction with umpire blunders despite the fact that the calls went in their favor.

GM Box Score:
Chris Goodwin: 2-3. 1 BB, 3 R
