Game 1: Nationwide Bombers 18 (WP-Gershon Yakobovitch 3-1)  Natty O's  4 (LP-RJ Seabeck 12-7)  6 Innings

Sunday’s contest between the No. 2 Nationwide Insurance Bombers and No. 3 Natty O’s wasn’t much of a contest as the Bombers swept The O’s 18-4 (6 innings) and 6-5 solidifying the Bombers’ hold on 2nd place and knocking the O’s into a 4th place tie with Sky.Bombers star CF, Gershon Y. outpitched R.J. Seabeck and improved to 4-1. Yoyo Strauss made his Pikesville League debut on the mound and pitched in relief in both games and didn’t give up a run in 4 innings pitched.

In a strange twist of irony, the O’s were screaming at the Bombers for drawing 9 walks instead of screaming at their pitcher for allowing 9 walks.

In game 1, the Bombers jumped to a 3-0 lead. Shulie Hochman led off with a triple, Yoyo hit an RBI single, Mark Loeb singled, Flamm walked, and Gershon Y hit a 2 run single. The O’s took a 4-3 lead in the 3rd but could have scored more if not for great defensive plays from Ben Gutman, Dan Gutman, Shuli Hochman and Uri Rabinovitz.

The Bombers took the lead in the 4th on Dan (Big Game) Gutman’s single, Hochman’s Sac Fly and Yoyo’s 2 run HR, 7-4. The Bombers put the game away in the 5th on Flamm’s 3 run HR, and RBI’s by Josh Stone, Rabinowiz and Hochman. Loeb was on base 4 times in 4 at bats (double, single and 2 W’s), and Flamm 3 times in 4 at bats ( HR, triple and a W) on this scorching Sunday.

Game 2:   Nationwide Bombers 6 (WP-Gershon Yakobovitch 4-1)  Natty O's  5 (LP-RJ Seabeck 12-8)

Game 2 was more exciting. The O’s took a 5-0 lead in game 2 but the Bombers fought back for the 6-5 win. The Bombers , down 5-0, started their comeback in the 4th. Ben Gutman led off with a double, Loeb singled and Flamm walked to load the bases. Seabeck walked Yakobovitch to make it 5-1. Stone’s GO made it 5-2 and Jason Gardner’s SAC fly made it 5-3. Rafi Strum who continues to be a key to the team’s success with his defense and speed in place of injured OF, Nada Spigler led off the 5th with a double. Hochman beat out an inf hit and Yoyo’s SAC fly made it 5-4. Loeb singled and Flamm’s single tied it at 5-5. The O’s botched the relay which also allowed Hochman to score for the 6-5 victory.
