Highlights submitted thus far by Kings, Outlaws

 

Northwest Regional Park Field 1:    Umpire- Reggie Grant
Game 1: Kings 13  (WP-Mike Herr 4-2 )  Outlaws 9 (LP-Larry Newman 0-6 ) 

The Kings overcame an early 5-0 deficit and defeated the Outlaws 13-9 in game 1. After Outlaws scored 5 runs in t-1st, Kings came right back scoring 7 runs in b-1st. The Kings sent 12 batters to the plate in the inning. Key hits were 2 RBI HR Kenny Salzman, 3 RBI 3B Justin Cohen, RBI 2B Zac Stavish, and RBI 1B Mike Herr.

It looked to be a slugfest as Outlaws regained lead in t-2nd. With 2 outs and 0 on, David Woods and Stanley "Popeye" Lyles singled and Martiez Reed hit a 3 RBI HR to RF. Outlaws led 8-7. Kings went scoreless in b-2nd and Outlaws added a run in t-3rd with Billy Giles 3B and Maurice Scott RBI 1B. In b-3rd, with 2 on and 2 out, Brett Eisenberg hit a flyball that was dropped in the outfield allowing the Kings to score 1 run and pull to within 9-8.

In b-4th, leadoff singles by Koby Sarubin, Salzman, and Shilo Merwitz (RBI) tied score. Subsequent SF by Jan Katzen and RBI 1B by Cohen gave Kings 11-9 lead. Kings starter Mike Herr was able to keep the Outlaws off the scoreboard after the 3rd inning and added a 2 RBI 1B in b-5th to give Kings the 13-9 win in game 1.

Week 5 action on Mothers Day Weekend, puts the Outlaws vs. the 2014 champion Kings. The young Outlaws start out fast with giving the Kings 5 in the top of the 1st. Reggie Molock draws a walk. David Woods singles. Stanley Lyles making his season debut, also gets a single to load the bases for Martiez Reed. After a good at bat Reed draws an RBI walk scoring Molock. Next batter, Theo Battle busts it open with a 2 RBI double, bringing in Woods, and Lyles. Billy Giles then gets an RBI groundout to score Reed. Darnell Maxwell doubles in Battle to complete the 5-0 rally. The Kings come right back and score 7 to get the lead back.

The Outlaws answer right back with clutch 2 out hitting, in the 2nd inning, David Woods singles. Stanley Lyles singles. Martiez Reed goes opposite field for a 3 run inside the park home run. This is Reeds third home run of the season, and also his young, bright career. 8-6 Outlaws after 2. In the 3rd Billy Giles hits a missile to left center for a lead off triple. Darnell Maxwell brings him in with an RBI fielders choice to give the Outlaws a 9-8 lead. The Kings set in after that a put up 5 more in the next 4 innings, and kept the Outlaws off the board to take game 1 13-9.

Game 2:   Kings 18  (WP-Shilo Merwitz 4-0)  Outlaws 5 (LP-Larry Newman 0-7)  6 Innings

The game remained close thru 2 innings with the score tied 1-1, but the Kings took advantage of some sloppy Outlaws defensive play scoring 4 runs in t-3rd, 5 runs in t-4th, 3 runs in t-5th, and 5 runs in t-6th to pull away 18-5 in 6 innings.

Game 2 the Outlaws had a tough go at it in the field. It was knotted at 1 after 1. Molock singles. Woods singles. Lyles sac fly scores Molock. The Kings open up a 10-1 lead after the top of 4. In the bottom of the 4 the Outlaws rallied back with 4. Martiez Reed singles. Theo Battle hits a shot to the gap for an RBI triple scoring Reed. Maurice Scott singles to bring in Battle. Jay Rogers walks. Larry Newman hits a 2 RBI single to score Scott and Rogers. 10-5 after 4.

The Kings put up 3 in the 5th to make it 13-5. In the 6th inning, Darnell Maxwell made his PMSL pitching debut. The Kings end it early with 5 more and end it in six 18-5.
