Game 1: Northwest Corridor 8 (WP-Howard Goldberg 2-0 )  LOFT 6 (LP-Jonathan Stacey 1-1)

LOFT and NWC both undefeated after one week of play squared off for the first time in 2016. NWC struck first plating 2 runs in their opening at bat. Elliot Blank scored on a Joe Kramer base knock and Tom Blumenauer followed with a run scored after Brad Garfield grounded out to third. NWC enjoyed a big 3rd inning scoring 4 more as the top of the order came through again. Jon Herbst scored from an Elliot Blank base hit and Kramer drove in another on a sac fly. Garfield scored on a long Goldberg fly to left centerfield which was misplayed by a LOFT outfielder. Brad Rosenberg followed with a line drive rbi single to score Goldberg. In the 5th both Blumenauer and Herbst doubled to score one more and Mike O’leary scored in the 7th after a Jon Herbst bases loaded sac fly to give NWC 8 runs. LOFT batters started to hit hard flyouts against Goldberg and staged a rally and comeback later in the game. However, NWC was able to hold off the late inning onslaught and hang on for the victory 8-6

Game 2:    Northwest Corridor 12 (WP-Ted Winner 2-0 )  LOFT 9 (LP-Jonathan Stacey 1-2)

The second game of the doubleheader saw Ted Winner go against LOFT pitcher Jonathan Stacey. Stacey pitched 2 games Sunday despite taking a hard comebacker to the mound off of his right leg in the first game. LOFT scored first in top of the 1st inn as Logan Malane scored after reaching on an error to lead off. NWC had a big 3rd inning, Jon Goldman and Ted Winner had back to back base hits and Aaron Birenbaum followed with a walk. Jon Herbst hit an rbi single and Elliot Blank hit a 2run double. Blumenauer hit a sac fly to score Herbst and NWC took a 4-1 lead. LOFT edged closer in the 4th inning as Mark Winkel’s aggressive baserunning plated LOFT’s 2nd run. LOFT added 3 more runs in the 5th to take their first lead of the game 5-4. In the bottom half of the inning NWC regained the lead after a Joe Kramer double scored Blank and Herbst, NWC added to that lead in the bottom of the 6th scoring 6 more runs. Brian Bandurchin lined home Goldberg after a leadoff triple, Goldman and O’Leary drew walks and Ted Winner helped his own cause with a 2rbi basehit opposite field against the shift. LOFT staged a rally and a big inning of their own in the top of the 7th led by a bases clearing Brad Verbovsky triple. NWC manage to hold on and complete the sweep 12-9.

Northwest Regional Park Field 4:    Umpire-  Jeff Kurland
Game 1: Sharks 9 (WP-Bob Mallonee 1-0) Outlaws 8 (LP-Larry Newman 0-2) 

Outlaws taking the field in week 2 looking to put a W in the win column, in a matchup against the Sharks formerly the Thunderbirds.

In the top of the first, the Outlaws get the ball rolling, as Darnell Maxwell leads it off with a single up the middle. Maurice Scott matches that with a line drive single of his own. Theo Battle draws a walk to juice the bases for David Woods. Woods smokes a RBI sac fly to get the Outlaws on the board. William Giles gets an RBI groundout to give the Outlaws a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the 2nd, the Outlaws strike again, doing all their damage with 2 outs. Chas West singles, and was bought in by Darnell Maxwell's RBI single for his second hit of the game. 3-0 Outlaws after 2. Outlaws open it up in the 3rd. David Woods gets a 1 out single. William Giles smokes a double into the gap. Super rookie John Brader making his PMSL debut ropes a 2RBI double scoring Woods, and Giles. Stud rookie Denard Howard gets his first PMSL RBI, with a single scoring Brader and giving the Outlaws a 6-0 lead.

The Sharks fight back with 3 of their own to close the lead to 6-3. Sharks get 2 in the bottom of the 4th. 6-5 Outlaws. Sharks tie it up at 6 after 5. Sharks get another run in the 6th to take their first lead 7-6 after 6.

Outlaws running out of time with their last at bat, turn it back on. Theo Battle finds a hole for a 1 out single. David Woods rips a double. Second and third for William Giles. Giles comes thru in the clutch with an RBI single to score Battle and tie the game at 7. Tony Wiggs gives the Outlaws the lead back with an RBI groundout scoring Woods. 8-7 Outlaws. In the bottom of the 7th, the Sharks not giving up get 2 on some costly errors by the Outlaws and take game 1 9-8 in a close contest.

Game 2:  Outlaws 13 (WP-Harry Kinsey 1-1)  Sharks 10 (LP-Bob Mallonee 1-1) 

In game 2, both teams hit the ball here, there, and everywhere. The Sharks put up 2 in the top of the 1st. The Outlaws fired up after letting game 1 slip thru their fingers in game 1, get hot, and this time, they stay hot.

In the bottom of the 1st, Darnell Maxwell sets it off with a leadoff single. Theo Battle muscles up, and puts one to the warning track driving in Maxwell, as he pulls the chuckwagon into third with an RBI triple. David Woods smashes an RBI double, to plate Battle, and tie the game at 2 after 1.

In the bottom of the 2nd, John Brader leads it off with a bomb off the left field fence for a leadoff triple. Chas West draws a walk. Denard Howard gets an RBI sac fly to score Brader. Harry Kinsey helps his cause with a single. Darnell Maxwell's RBI sac fly scores West, and gives the Outlaws a 2 run lead 4-2 after 2. In the 3rd the Outlaws, keep the bats busy. Battle singles. William Giles singles. Brader gets an RBI double scoring Battle. Chas West legs out an infield single to load em up for Rule 5 signee, Denard Howard. Howard delivers the facial with a 2 RBI single, to bring in Giles, and Brader. 7-3 Outlaws after 3. The Sharks aint done yet, as the put a big 6 in the fourth to go up 9-7.

The Outlaws knowing this is gonna be an all out slugfest step to the plate. Can the Outlaws pull it off? Well......... Maurice Scott singles up the middle. Theo the Pistol Battle swinging a red hot bat, gets another single. David Woods comes up with an RBI single to bring in the speedy Scott. William Giles V continues his reign of terror with an RBI double to score Battle. John Brader continues his monster game, with a 2 RBI double to finish off a 4 spot in the bottom of the 4th, and give the Outlaws an 11-9 lead.

Both teams put up bagels in the 5th. Sharks get one in the 6th, to creep back to 11-10. In the bottom of the 6th, Outlaws touch the scoreboard again. Woods gets a 1 out walk. William Giles adding to his career game unleashes an RBI triple to the fence to score Woods. Tony Wiggs adds another insurance run to pad the lead to 13-10 with an RBI single to score Giles. Harry Kinsey digs in on the mound and retires the Sharks 1-2-3 and bring home the win for the Outlaws 13-10.
