Northwest Regional Park Field 1:    Umpire- Reggie Grant
Game 1: Nationwide Bombers 24 (WP-Gershon Yakobovitch 1-0)  Outlaws 10  (LP-Larry Newman 1-9)  5 Innings

The Nationwide Insurance Bombers sponsored by team owner, David Flamm, helped the team stay in 1st place by sweeping a doubleheader from the Outlaws, 24-10 and 15-3. While Flamm wasn’t there this Sunday , his deep pockets have kept the Bombers rolling all season long.

Even though LOFT didn’t show up last week, the Outlaws showed up with a vengeance. After, the Bombers jumped out to an early 1st inning lead on a Mark Loeb 2 run HR, the Outlaws jumped on Bombers pitcher, Jason Gardner for 8 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The big hit of the inning was a 3 run bases loaded double to deep LF by ageless veteran, Rotts. Star CF, Gershon Yakobovitch came in relief and put an end to the bleeding. The Bombers started chipping away at the lead. They scored 2 in the 2nd to make it 8-4. With 1 out, Gabe Silber and Uri Rabinowitz singled and Rafi Strum walked to load the bases. Larry Newman walked Jason Gardner and Yakobovitch hit an RBI GO. The Bombers took the lead for good in the 3rd by scoring 7 runs. After a TAZ leadoff double, Shulie Hochman hit a 2 run HR over the LF fence. Other big hits in the inning were RBI singles by Rabinowitz and Gardner, an RBI double by Strum and an RBI triple by Yakobovitch. The Bombers then put the game out of reach by scoring 7 in the 4th and 7 in the 5th.

Big contibutors were Shulie Hochman 4-4, 3 runs scored and 5 RBI’s, Loeb, 3-4, 3runs scored and 3 RBI’s. Sam Luxenberg made several nice plays in the OF and Rabinowitz made several sparling plays in the INF. Yakobovitch didn’t allow any earned runs and earned his 1st victory of the year.

Game 2:   Nationwide Bombers 16 (WP-Gershon Yakobovitch 2-0)  Outlaws 3  (LP-Harry Kinsey 2-4)  5 Innings

Yakobovitch beat Nitro in the nightcap, 15-3. The Outlaws who have great heart jumped on Yakobovitch in the top of the 1st for a 2-0 lead. The Bombers jumped right back on top in the bottom of the 1st with 3 runs. Luxenberg singled, Taz walked and Loeb hit a 3 run HR over the LF fence, his 2nd HR on the day. The Bombers scored 2 more in the 2nd on a 2 run triple from Rabinowitz and a SF from Strum. Reggie Bullock hit an RBI single in the 3rd to close the gap to 6-3 but the Bombers scored 3 more in the 3rd to push the lead to 9-3. After a Luxenberg triple off the LF fence, TAZ hit an RBI double followed by a Hochman RBI double and a Dan Gutman RBI single. The Bombers scored 5 more in the 4th and ended the game early in the 5th on a walkoff, 2 out single by Luxenberg. Big hits in the 4th were a Yakobovtch RBI triple, a Luxenberg RBI double, a 2 run RBI double by Hochman and an RBI double by Dan Gutman.

Northwest Regional Park Field 3:    Umpire- Scott Snyder
Game 1: LOFT 4 (WP-Kenny Kreyling 4-4)  Natty O's 2 (LP- RJ Seabeck 7-7)

After the enjoyable holiday weekend off L.O.F.T. took the field looking to start the second half of the season off on the right foot. Some couldn’t believe that L.O.F.T. could take the field after the Bombers lowered their record to below .500 2 weeks prior as it dealt such an emotional blow to their team. Luckily for L.O.F.T. they prefer “messing around” to playing softball anyways. Kenny Kreyling and RJ Seabeck were locked in early as both pitchers held the opponent off the board through 1. L.O.F.T. broke through in the bottom of the 2nd inning by plating 3 runs. The magic of the inning came off of the Harry Potter wand of MVPete as he burned the Natty O’s left fielder for a 2 RBI triple. Darryl Bingham followed that up by smoking a line drive to left field to give L.O.F.T. a 3-0 lead after 2. The score remained that way until the top of the 4th inning when the Natty O’s were able to cut the lead to 3-2. In the bottom of the 6th inning L.O.F.T. had a 3-2 lead and were looking for some insurance runs before heading into the top of the 7th inning. With 2 outs Jonathan Stacey was able to get a single and advance to 2nd on an error. Dana Anderson then stepped to the plate and launched a high fly ball, yelling something in Bostonian speak that no one could understand, and then flipping his bat as he thought he launched a 2 run home run; the ball instead hit the bottom of the wall for a double and plated Stacey giving L.O.F.T. a 4-2 lead after 6 innings. With 2 outs and a runner on 1st the Natty O’s SS stepped in and ripped a ball to left field where Logan Malane misplayed the ball; the batter saw the misplay and attempted to take second base, but Malane quickly recovered and gunned the runner down at second base to end the game.

Offensive Stars for LOFT:
Brad Verbosky: 2-3; 3B, 1B
Jonathan Stacey: 2-2; 2 1B, BB, R

Game 2:    Natty O's 15  (WP-RJ Seabeck 8-7)  LOFT 2 (LP- Jonathan Stacey 3-5)  5 Innings

After squeaking out game 1 after only scoring 4 runs, L.O.F.T. hoped to get the bats going in game 2 and earn the sweep. On the first pitch of game 2 Logan Malane launched a solo homerun over the centerfield wall. After that nothing exciting happened for L.O.F.T. as poor pitching combined with good hitting from the Natty O’s led to a blowout 5 inning win for the Natty O’s.
