Game 1: Northwest Corridor 7 (WP-Howard Goldberg 4-1)
LOFT 6 (LP-Kenny Kreyling 3-3)
L.O.F.T. came into game 1 looking to bounce back from a
tough loss to the Kings the week before. Things did not start as planned in the
top of the first as NWC mixed some hits with some walks and some Mark Winkel
dropped fly balls to take an early 3-0 lead. L.O.F.T. was able to get the first
3 batters on base, but they were only able to score 1 run off of a Kreyling
single. L.O.F.T. was able to hold NWC scoreless in the top of the 2nd inning.
Darryl Bingham then drove in 2 runs with a 2 RBI single in the bottom half of
the inning. Dana Anderson brought a 3rd run in with a sac fly to give L.O.F.T.
the lead 4-3. NWC came right back to take a 5-4 lead behind, once again you
guessed it, a Mark Winkel dropped fly ball. The score remained the same until
the bottom of the 5th inning when Andy Peksa hit a sac fly to tie it 5-5. NWC
came back in the top of the 6th inning and scored 2 runs, most likely due to
another Winkel drop in the OF. In the bottom of the 6th inning Brad Verbosky hit
a single to drive in a run to cut the lead to 7-6. Kreyling held NWC scoreless
in the top of the 7th, but L.O.F.T. was not able to plate any runs in the bottom
of the 7th and dropped this one 7-6.

Game 2: LOFT 19 (WP-Jonathan Stacey 3-3) Northwest Corridor 12 (LP-Ted Winner 3-2)
L.O.F.T. looked to bounce back in game 2 after a tough
loss in game 1. Andy Peksa made a few defensive changes to help aid a better
defensive performance in game 2. SS Nick Serkes moved to LCF, which moved Winkel
to RCF and Peksa to SS. L.O.F.T. was able to get on the board early as Brad
Verbosky was able to drive Logan Malane in to give L.O.F.T. a 1-0 lead in the
top of the 1st. NWC came right back and tied it at 1-1 after 1 inning. L.O.F.T.
plated 2 more runs in the top of the 2nd off of a RBI single from Bingham and a
fielder’s choice by Malane. NWC fired back with another run to cut the lead to
3-2 after 2. The 3rd inning is where L.O.F.T. was able to bust this one wide
open. NWC pitcher Ted Winner did not have his best stuff on the mound as his
command seemed to abandon him, which led to 4 walks in the inning. L.O.F.T. was
able to capitalize on the walks by getting some hits to drive in the base
runners. In total L.O.F.T. scored 10 runs in the 3rd inning as L.O.F.T. batted
around and every player on the team got at least 1 walk or hit in the inning.
With the score now 13-2 L.O.F.T. looked to get some quick outs and get back to
the plate. NWC scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to cut the lead to
13-4. L.O.F.T. scored 1 in the top half of the 4th to go up 14-4 and the scored
remained that way after a good defensive inning by L.O.F.T. holding NWC
scoreless. L.O.F.T. got 2 big runs in the top of the 5th inning to make it 16-4
and give them a chance to end the game early if they could hold NWC scoreless
again. NWC however was not going away quietly. They hung up 6 runs in the inning
and cut the lead to 16-10 after 5. This was as close as NWC would end up getting
though as both teams exchanged a few more runs a piece and L.O.F.T. hung on to
win 19-12.
