Game 1: Kings 7 (WP-Jeff Harris 4-1) Nationwide
Bombers 1 (LP- Tzvi Friedman 8-1)
The Nationwide Insurance Bombers came into their Father’s
Day doubleheader against their respected rivals the Kings undefeated at 8-0. The
defending champions behind ace pitcher Jeff Harris quieted the Bombers potent
line up and gave the Bombers their first loss 7-1. Harris outdueled ERA leader
Tzvi Freidman and moved the Kings record to 7-4. The Bombers had 2 hits in the
1st , singles by Ben Gutman and Martiez ( Taz) Reed but Harris got Marc Loeb on
a flyout to end the inning. Harris shut the door in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th by
going 3 up, 3 down except for a single by Ben Gutman who was thrown out at 2nd
trying to advance on an overthrow. The Bombers finally scored on a HR over the
CF fence by Taz.
Dan Gutman and Uri Rabinowitz hat hits in the 6th, but
the Kings solid defense shut the door.
Kings got onto scoreboard in b-2nd courtesy of Justin Cohen leadoff 2B, Alan Varhaftik 1 out RBI 2B, and Glenn Savage 2 out RBI 1B. The b-3rd started with Brett Eisenberg 1B, Jeff Harris 1B, Kenny Salzman RBI 1B, and Steve Levy walk. Justin Cohen's SF to RCF and Jan Katzen's 2 out 2 RBI 1B to CF put Kings ahead 6-0. Taz Reed homered to leadoff Bombers t-5th, but Kings starter Jeff Harris was able to keep the potent Bombers offense off the board the rest of the way. Kings added insurance run in b-5th on SF to LCF by Jan Katzen.

Game 2: Nationwide Bombers 7 (WP-Tzvi Friedman 9-1) Kings 0 (LP- Jeff Harris 4-2)
Game 2 was a different story. The Bombers behind a
command performance by Freidman shut out the Kings 7-0. Harris took the loss. In
the bottom of the 1st, Gershon Y led off with a single and went to 3rd on a
single by Ben Gutman. Shulie H hit a SF to RF make it 1-0. Taz singled and Loeb
walked and Sam Luxenberg, making his 2016 debut hit an RBI GO. The throw to 1st
was wild and Taz never broke stride and scored making it 3-0. In the 2nd, after
one out, Dan Gutman had an INF single and Uri Rabinowitz had a single. Gershon Y
followed with a deep shot to LF just over a leaping valiant effort by Varhaftik
for a 2 run triple making it 5-0.
In the 7th, after one out, Ben Gutman
flew out and threw the bat because he was mad at himself. He was quickly tossed
from the game . When Bombers manager, David Finkelstein questioned the umpire
about tossing Gutman out of the game instead of a warning, he too was thrown out
of the game. This was the first time Finkelstein has ever been thrown out of a
game in the Pikesville Men’s League. The team quickly rallied around their
manager by scoring their final 2 runs of the game. After Hochman singled, Taz
hit his 2nd HR of the game by hitting a deep drive to RF to help the Bombers
earn the split and move their record to 9-1. Happy Father’s Day to all.
