Highlights submitted thus far by Bombers, LOFT, Outlaws

Northwest Regional Park Field 1:    Umpire- Reggie Grant
Game 1: LOFT 12 (WP-Kenny Kreyling 3-1)  Sharks 6  (LP-Bob Mallonee 1-4) 

LOFT started the game with just 9 players thanks to a member of the team that valued beauty sleep over his team. Fortunately an emergency on-call was able to show up in the 4th inning to fill in. The LOFT bats started out well with a walk and 4 consecutive hits to start the game as and RBI single by Pitcher Kenny Kreyling scored lead-off hitter Logan Malane, a Nick Serkes bloop single scored Dana Anderson, and a Brad Verbosky double scored Kreyling. After that the LOFT bats went ice cold as they recorded 12 straight outs, allowing the Sharks to tie the game at 3-3 in the 4th. The bats finally got going again in the 5th with a Mark Winkel lead-off single, a Mike Schaffer single, and a Malane single to load the bases. Kreyling came to the plate and bamboozled a bases-clearing triple to the fence and scored on another Serkes RBI single. The Sharks scored 3 in the top of the 6th to cut the LOFT lead to 7-6, but LOFT put the game away in the bottom of the 6th with 5 more runs. LOFT started the inning with a strike out looking to former LOFT flame thrower Bob Mallonee, but the next 8 batters all reached base highlighted by another bases-loaded 3 RBI hit for Kreyling as he accumulated 7 RBI in the game to help his cause as LOFT beat the Sharks 12-6 in game 1.

Game 2:   LOFT 16 (WP-Jonathan Stacey 2-2)  Sharks 2  (LP-Bob Mallonee 1-5) 

LOFT bats came out hot again in the first inning of game 2 as Malane hit a lead-off triple off the fence, followed by an Anderson RBI single, a Kreyling RBI double, a Serkes single, Verbosky RBI single, and a Jonathan Stacey RBI single for a 5 run first inning. In the 3rd inning, Kreyling reached on an E6, a Stacey double put runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs, and Mike Randall hit a big 2 RBI single to put LOFT ahead 7-0. Schaffer hit a 1 out single in the 4th to get things going that ended with RBI singles from Kreyling and Serkes to add a couple more to the rout. The 5th inning began with Pitcher Stacey hitting a double and hustled to 3rd on a fielding error which allowed Randall to hit a sac-fly to bring him in for a 10-0 LOFT lead. LOFT struck again in the 6th as Malane hit a single, Anderson with a double, and Kreyling with a 2-RBI double who later scored on Serkes' 5th RBI single of the day. Stacey had a brilliant shut-out going for 5 innings, but gave up a couple in the bottom of the 6th to prevent the mercy rule from going into effect. LOFT kept it going in the 7th as Winkel hit an infield single, Malane hit his 2nd triple of the game, Anderson hit a triple of his own, and Kreyling hit an RBI single for his 12th RBI on the day; a new LOFT record. Stacey shut down the Sharks offense in the bottom of the 7th as LOFT came away with a comfortable 16-2 win.

Northwest Regional Park Field 3:    Umpire- Scott Snyder
Game 1: Nationwide Bombers 11 (WP-Tzvi Friedman 5-0)  Northwest Corridor  8 (LP- Howard Goldberg 3-1 )

In a battle between the top two teams in the league, the Nationwide Bombers swept Northwest Corridor. Marc Loeb opened the scoring with an RBI single, plating sub Yoyo Strauss in the top of the first. But NWC came right back and captured the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Fast forward to the bottom of the fifth, in a tied 4-4 game, NWC took a three run lead on a bases-clearing double by their cleanup hitter. After another run in the bottom of the 6th, the Bombers found themselves trailing 8-4. Down four with two outs in the top of the seventh, the Bombers perfect season was in jeopardy. But that's when their bats came to life. After Dan Gutman walked, Shaad Johnson singled, Uri Rabinowitz hit an RBI single, and Jason Gardner blooped a two-run single to cut the lead to 8-7. Then a single by Gershon Yakobovitch and a walk by Strauss loaded the bases for Ben Gutman. Gutman ripped a pitch to right-center field to give the Bombers a 9-8 lead. Next, David Flamm hit a triple off the top of the left field fence , plating two more runs. P Tzvi Friedman closed the door in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Bombers an 11-8 win.

Game 2:    Nationwide Bombers 5 (WP-Tzvi Friedman 6-0)  Northwest Corridor  2 (LP- Ted Winner 3-1 )

Game 2 didn't have as much excitement. NWC scored two runs in the top of the first but didn't score the rest of the game. The Bombers responded in the bottom of the first, facing former teammate, P Ted Winner. Gershon worked a leadoff walk. After an out, Ben and Flamm each had infield singles that ricocheted off Teddy's glove, loading the bases for Loeb. Loeb scorched a single to center field, plating Gershon. After a second out, the power-hitting Friedman hit an opposite-field RBI single, and fill-in Manager, Chaim Finkelstein, singled to right-center, scoring two more which gave the Bombers a 4-2 lead. The Bombers added another run in the fourth, which was more than enough, after Tzvi quieted the big NWC bats for his league-leading 6th victory.

Northwest Regional Park Field 4:    Umpire-  Jeff Kurland
Game 1: Kings 11  (WP-Jeff Harris 1-1) Outlaws 4 (LP-Larry Newman 0-4) 

Outlaws take on the 2015 champion Kings, on frigid Sunday. Outlaws get on the board in the top of 1st, as Darnell Maxwell sets the tone with a leadoff triple. Hector Medina drives him in with a line drive into left center for an RBI single to give the Outlaws a 1-0 lead. The Kings match the Outlaws with one of their own. 1-1 after 1.

The Outlaws score again in the top of the 2nd, as Tony Wiggs just misses a home run as the ball with just inches away from going over. Wiggs ends up with a 1 out triple. Josh Vaeth gets an RBI sac fly to score Wiggs, and give the Outlaws a brief 2-1 lead. The Kings bat around and put up 10 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, blowing the game open.

The Outlaws try to chip away in the top of the 3rd. Hector Medina gets a 1 out single. Theo Battle singles. David Woods draws a walk, and loads up the bases for William Giles with no outs. Giles pops out. Rookie, John Brader gets a 2 RBI bloop single to score Medina, and Battle. 11-4 after 3. Both teams keep each other off the board for the rest of the gamIne with stingy defense. Final score 11-4 Kings

Game 2:  Kings 12  (WP-Jeff Harris 2-1) Outlaws 11 (LP-Harry Kinsey 1-3) 

In game 2, both teams came out swinging. The Kings go scoreless in the top of the 1st. The Outlaws come out strong in the bottom half. Darnell Maxwell leads it off with a single. Hector Medina singles. Theo Battle RBI singles in Maxwell. David Woods RBI singles in Medina. William Giles RBI singles in Battle. John Brader RBI sac flys in Woods. 2 batters later, Maurice Scott earns an RBI single, scoring Giles. Josh Vaeth doubles. 5-0 Outlaws after 1. Both teams scoreless in the 2nd.

The Kings get a 4 spot in the top of the 3rd. The Outlaws bounce back with 2 more in the 3rd. John Brader RBI triples to the left field fence. Tony Wiggs walks. Maurice Scott uses the jets to leg out an infield single which went 2 feet. Josh Vaeth RBI singles in Brader. 7-4 after 3. The Kings get 1 in the top of the 4th. The Outlaws answer with 1 in the bottom of the 4th. Darnell Maxwell gets his second hit of the game, with a 1 out single. Hector Medina gets his second hit with a single. 2 batters later, Woods gets an RBI single to score Maxwell, but Medina was caught in a run down to end the inning. 8-5 after 4.

The Kings keep chipping away with 1 in the 5th. 8-6 after 5. The Kings tie the game at 8 in the top of the 6th. The Outlaws regain the lead scoring 1 in the bottom of the 6th. Harry Kinsey helps his cause with a 1 out single. Josh Vaeth runs for Kinsey. 2 batters later, Hector Medina having a career game hits a missile which just stays fair down the left field line are rolls to the fence for a 2 out RBI triple scoring Vaeth, and giving the Outlaws the lead back 9-8 after 6.

The Kings down to their last 3 outs find holes in the Outlaw defense, and put up 4 to go up 12-9. The Outlaws never quitting, as they attempt to comeback. In the bottom of the 7th, David Woods legs out an infield single. 2 batters later, John Brader hits a bloop single. 2 batters later, Maurice Scott cracks a 2 RBI triple scoring Vaeth, who ran for Woods after pulling a hamstring, and Brader. With the tying run on third, the Kings decide to intentionally walk Vaeth to face Mike Rottenberg. Rotts hits a bomb into left which was track down by the speedy Vaharftik to win the game for Kings 12-11.
