Highlights submitted thus far by Kings, Outlaws

Northwest Regional Park Field 1:    Umpire- Rick Simmons
Game 1: Kings 2 (WP-Jeff Harris  3-2)  Nationwide Bombers 0 (LP- Tzvi Friedman 3-1) 

Jeff Harris allowed just 6 hits and pitched a complete game shutout for the Kings against the defending 2016 Playoffs Champion Bombers 2-0. Meanwhile Bombers starting pitcher Tzvi Friedman allowed just 5 hits, but came up on the short end of the pitcher's duel.

The game was scoreless into t-5th. Shilo Merwitz led off inning with !B. With 1 out, Arin Gelletly hit a 1B and Zac Stavish connected for an RBI 2B. Following a groundout, Troy Hendricks had an RBI 1B to LCF putting Kings ahead 2-0. On the play, Bombers LCF tossed home to catcher Mark Loeb, tagging out Stavish attempting to also score. Kings starter Jeff Harris never allowed more than 1 baserunner in any inning nor did any baserunner reach 3rd base.

Game 2:  Nationwide Bombers 12 (WP-Tzvi Friedman 4-1) Kings 3  (LP- Jeff Harris 3-3) 

The Bombers bats awoke for game 2 and the Bombers were able to earn a split against the Kings taking the nightcap 12-3. The Bombers banged out 16 hits in game 2, while the Kings had just 10. Tzvi Friedman and Jeff Harris were again on the mound for their teams in game 2.

Game 1: Outlaws 12  (WP- Larry Newman  2-3)  La Familia 0 (LP- ) 

A breezy day in May, at Northwest Regional Park, has an exciting matchup between the expansion La Familia vs. the Outlaws. Both teams start slow in the 1st inning putting up zeros.

The Outlaws get on the board in the bottom of the 2nd. Tony Wiggs gets a one out single. Chas West singles. Theo Battle advances them to 2nd and 3rd with a deep pop out. Maurice Scott comes up clutch, with a 2RBI single scoring Wiggs, and West. Exciting rookie Glenn Townes Jr., making his PMSL debut steps into the box for his first career at-bat. Townes smokes a line drive into center for a double. Darnell Maxwell brings home Scott, with an RBI fielders choice to give the Outlaws a 3-0 lead. Both teams go scoreless in the 3rd.

In the 4th inning the Outlaws extend the lead as Tony Wiggs leads the inning off with a scud missile into dead center over the fence for a solo home run. Chas West singles for the second time in a row. Theo Battle singles. Maurice Scott walks to load the bases for Glenn Townes Jr. Townes Jr. does it again with a 2 RBI double scoring West, and Battle. Darnell Maxwell comes through big time again with a 2 RBI single, scoring Scott, and Townes. Super rookie Rob Carr also making his PMSL debut, reaches on a fielders choice on a close call at second. David Woods draws his second walk of the game. William Giles delivers and RBI single scoring Carr. John Kerzner singles in Woods to extend the lead to 10-0. The Outlaws still looking for more. Wiggs making his second at-bat of the inning gets intentionally walked to juice the bases for the dangerous Chas West. West lines out on a web gem by the pitcher Miguel who caught a line drive robbing West of extra bases. 10-0 after 4.

Larry Newman was wheeling, and dealing all day leaving the La Familia batters off balance changing speeds with his array of pitches. Both teams fail to score in the 5th and 6th innings. In the 7th, the Outlaws pad on insurance runs. Chas West gets a one out double. Theo Battle drives in West with an RBI single. Maurice Scott, having a big game, drives in Battle with an RBI single to stretch the lead to 12-0. Nemo goes superhero and keeps La Familia scoreless in the 7th frame to earn a complete game shutout to lead the Outlaws to 12-0 victory.

Game 2: Outlaws 23 (WP- Jon Kerzner  3-0)  La Familia 13 (LP- ) 

In game 2, La Familia starts out fast with a 5 spot in the top of the 1st. Key hits by Danny, Perez, Martinez, Miguel, Alfonso,Ralphie, and Anderson. The Outlaws answer back with 2 of their own. Darnell Maxwell leads it off with a single, and bites the dust as he slips before he reaches the bag, and gets tagged out. Rob Carr gets his first career hit with a single up the middle. John Brader gets an RBI single to bring in Carr. Tony Wiggs draws a walk. Billy Giles singles. La Familia stops the rally by an inning ending double play on a great play by Alfonso the second baseman. 5-1 after 1.

La Familia tacks on another run in the top of the 2nd to stretch lead back to 6-1. David Woods leads off the 2nd inning with an opposite field single beating the shift but was left stranded by great defense by La Familia, as they protect their 5 run lead.

In the bottom of the 3rd, the Outlaws take the gloves off as they bat around and score 11 runs in the inning to take the lead 12-6 after 3. La Familia continues the slug fest, and answer back with 2 to close the gap to 12-8. The Outlaws keeping it hot, in the bottom of the 4th. Chas West gets a one out triple. Theo Battle continues his hot start, by bringing West home with an RBI single. Maurice Scott draws a walk. Rob Carr legs out an infield single to juice the bases, for super sophomore John Brader. Brader delivers the facial, with a 2 RBI double to plate Battle, and Scott. Tony Wiggs get intentionally walked to once again load em up for the hot hitting William Giles. Giles crushes a 2RBI double to right field to score Carr, and Brader. After the third pitching change for La Familia, John Kerzner draws a walk to once again juice the bases for David Woods. Woods pops up to end the inning. 17-8 after 4.

La Familia not going down easy, keeps hitting, and uses their speed on the bases to score 4 more runs, and stay in the game. 17-12 after the top of the 5th. In the bottom of the 5th, the Outlaws get on the board again. Chas West draws a leadoff walk. Theo Battle who ate his Wheaties this morning, sends a bomb to the fence, for an RBI triple scoring the speedy West. Maurice Scott gets an RBI sac fly to score Battle, and put the Outlaws up 19-12.

The Outlaws keep the pressure on scoring 4 more in the 7th, highlighted by an opposite field 3 run home run by the absolute on fire, Chas West to stretch the lead to 23-12. La Familia tries to fight back by putting up one in the bottom of 7th. John Brader makes the catch of the season, with an awesome behind the back catch to end the nightcap, in an Outlaws sweep 23-13. John Kerzner stays perfect with a 3-0 record to start his bright Outlaws career. Rob Carr gets a 4 hit game in his second career game in the PMSL.
