Game 1: LOFT 12 (WP-Andy Peksa)
Natty O's 11 (LP-
RJ Seabeck)
L.O.F.T. looked to continue their hot hitting and hopefully begin to
play some better defense on Father’s Day 2018. Luckily they were able to
accomplish 1 of the 2 goals on this day. After giving up 1 in the top of
the 1st inning L.O.F.T. came back with 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st
highlighted by a 2 RBI double off of the bat of Kenny Kreyling who had
not played in 2 months due to rainouts and voluntarily sleeping in the
woods. L.O.F.T. held the Natty O’s in the top of the 2nd inning and then
scored 3 more runs off of a 2 RBI double by Daryl Bingham and a RBI
double by Logan Malane. L.O.F.T. scored again in the bottom of the 3rd
and the Natty O’s scored 1 in the top of the 4th which made it 9-2 in
favor of L.O.F.T. after 4. With L.O.F.T. in command of the game and 2
outs in the top of the 5th, L.O.F.T. made a costly error that turned an
inning that would have saw the Natty O’s score zero runs into an inning
where they scored 8 runs and took a 10-9 lead. In the bottom of the 5th
inning Logan Malane would quickly change the game back into L.O.F.T.’s
favor as he jacked a 3 run bomb over the LF fence to give L.O.F.T. a
12-10 lead. The Natty O’s were able to score 1 in the top of the 6th,
but Andy Peksa shut the O’s down in the top of the 7th to earn L.O.F.T.
the 12-11 victory in game 1. With the victory L.O.F.T. matched their
2017 win total with 6 victories.

Game 2: Natty O's 19 (WP-Jay Walle) LOFT 12 (LP- Andy Peksa)
L.O.F.T. continued their 1st
inning offensive success by plating 5 runs to start the game off. Kenny Kreyling
took the mound in game 2 and held the Natty O’s to 2 runs in the bottom half of
the inning. Both teams went scoreless in the 2nd before L.O.F.T. scored 3 more
in the top of the 3rd when Brad Verbosky drove in a run with a RBI triple and
Daryl Bingham followed it up with a 2 run blast over the LCF fence to make it an
8-2 game. The Natty O’s made it 8-3 in the bottom of the 3rd, but L.O.F.T. went
up 10-3 in the top of the 4th after they scored 2 more runs. Kreyling ran into
some command issues in the bottom of the 4th, so Peksa came back in to stop the
bleeding and only allow the Natty O’s to score 2 runs in the inning. With the
score now 10-5 L.O.F.T. the Natty O’s bats exploded with 7 in the bottom of the
5th and 7 in the bottom of the 6th as L.O.F.T. ran out of steam on the day and
only was able to manage a single run in the 6th and 7th innings leading to a
split of the double header and a Natty O’s victory in game 2. Early in this
contest Daryl Bingham made one of L.O.F.T.’s best defensive plays in a while, as
he fielded a one hop line drive off of the bat of Natty O’s LF Jeff Kapper and
threw him out at 1st base to keep him hitless on the day to that point.

Park Field 4:
Umpire- Jeff Kurland
Game 1: Nationwide Insurance Bombers 15 (WP-Gershon
Yakobavitch)
Northwest Corridor 0 (LP-
Howard Goldberg )
Game 2: Nationwide Insurance Bombers 3 (WP-Gershon Yakobavitch) Northwest Corridor 2 (LP- Ted Winner )
The Nationwide Insurance Bombers remained unbeaten, 6-0, as they
swept NWC, 15-0 and 3-2. All Star CF, Gershon Y. went to the mound, as
regular starter, Tzvi Friedman, missed the games to be in the Nathan’s
hot dog eating contest- (6th place). Yakobavitch was simply amazing
shutting down the powerful, NWC lineup to 2 runs on the day, including
his game 1 shutout. Howard Goldberg and Teddy Winner took the loses.
Chaim Finkelstein managed the team and moved his winning percentage in
the league to 90%. He also had 4 hits and played solid defense.
Shulie Hochman continued to wield a hot bat and Moshe Tuchman had a HR.
Reserves, Akiva Katz and Ezra Bernstein played integral roles and Uri
Rabinowitz, playing CF for Yakobavitch made the play of the year on a
spectacular diving catch. Uri got banged up and is day to day.
Sam Luxenberg had 14 flyouts to LCF in the doubleheader, including a
great grab in the 7th inning, bases loaded, in game 2 to keep NWC from
tying the game. The Gutman brothers played their usual role as team
leaders , timely hitting and solid defense. Team owner Flamm, played,
left for his daughter’s play and then raced back. That’s what u call
commitment to a team.
Yoyo Strauss also missed the doubleheader as he was also at the Nathan’s
contest and won the picking up the most wrappers at the event with his
amazing quickness. Additionally, he didn’t realize that we play every
week. The Gutman’s are looking forward to their return next week.
